What an amazing race. From the very beginning, I knew that it would be one of those precious good races. After going out hard in the first 400, my legs did not feel like stopping, nor were they tired. I settled in with Brendan and we ran together for about 4k (from 2-6k). For the first time, I felt like I had energy when I needed it, and had money to spend out on the course. I also knew when to use it. I felt that Brendan and I worked very well together. There were times when I slowed to let him recover and he slowed to let me recover. After we reach the end of the long straight away on the last loop, my legs wanted to go, so I let them. Mason Frank and a small pack of Virginia and Oregon top guys settled right in front of us. Brendan let me go and I slowly pulled up to them. Two very quick Minnesota runners joined the pack and got by me. On the hill, I conserved a little energy, then took off at the plateau. They seemed like they were afraid of the hill, so I pulled up next to them, then flew right by over the second little hill. Kicked down the beautiful finishing straight was amazing and I knew that I left the pack far behind.

What a race it was. Our team put together a race that it needed and we can finally call ourselves National Champions.
