Notes

I pulled in to Merner's parking lot at about 5:40. I wasn't sure if anyone else was going to be there or not because Andy's been sick, and Henz and Krump were both hurt. I decided to wait a few minutes to see if someone showed up though. Unfortunately, as I sat in my car listening to "Mike & Mike in the Morning" I began to doze off. I think I woke up a few minutes later as BS ran by my car but by the time I got my extra layers off and put on my reflective vest, he was gone. So I started out on my own, met up with morning run and then added on a little afterwards. Before I headed in to work I swung by Starbucks to get myself an overpriced cup of joe ("joe" being my term for a grande carmel mocha...the breakfast of champions!). Unfortunately my advisor from when I was in school was there too. l wasn't totally sure if he'd recognize me. I hadn't talked to him in over a year (when I awkwardly saw him at a Starbucks). It actually ended up not being that bad. He was the type of professor that all the history majors (like myself) really liked but everyone else hated because they thought he was arrogant (which he was). He really liked to talk about himself during class and this encouner was no different. I wanted to ask him how classes were going, how the other professors were doing, whether he's still using some of my favorite books that we used while I was in his classes, whether or not they were able to hire a new non-western history prof. etc. Instead I spent 20 minutes listening to him talk about himself and how much trouble he's having trying to learn 16th century German because he was invited to speak at a conference at Duke University later this spring about...blahblahblah. I stopped listening.
