Think the fun was done just because the race was over? Au contraire! As I mentioned before, my dad was running the 1/2 marathon too. So I was little surprised that Jane and my mom weren't at the finish line but I figured they had decided to stick around at a certain spot to cheer on my dad and would be at the finish line with my stuff any minute now. 5min went by. 10min. 30min. I was wet and freezing. Finally, about 1hr after I finished they showed up with my stuff. Turns out, they had gotten lost and didn't get to see my dad or me at any point during the race. They thought they were watching up but turns out they were along the full marathon course. When they discovered this, they were slightly relieved b/c they had no clue why they never saw me come by but they also realized that I had probably finished a while ago and didn't have any of my stuff (which was true). I was happy to see them and get myself. I got my sweats back on just in time to jog the last .5mi or so with my dad who finished really strong right at 2:30. Not bad for a 64 yr old who had heart surgery a few years ago. So, although there was a lot of frustrations associated w this morning (which are now funny stories) it was a genuinely good one. Plus, a lot of the headaches will serve as strong reminders for Indy - be SURE to get there EARLY, make sure you know the course (even if you're not going to win the thing) and have a plan for what to do with your stuff.
