Different approach to training. I've accepted that I'm out of shape and I'm going to try and take things slowly, i.e. instead of trying to jump straight to 15+ miles per week, aim for roughly 5 and build from there. This week I'm starting with roughly mile runs which I think is going to be very doable. I think I can do at least three days this week, but four or five would be ideal.

This run was hard but easy, if that makes sense. It was much more mentally palatable to target half mile-mile as my goal because it meant I could be done with my workout in less than ten minutes. That's short enough that I know my joints won't be hurting by the end and I won't feel like I'm overextending or torturing myself at any point. I think that's been the major key missing from my workouts -- not running long and slow enough to hit mileage I deem "acceptable," rather having a goal of just enjoying myself and not being upset afterwards. Start very small and aim for consistency, I have probably another 40 years of running in me, maybe another 5-10 of my prime. I want to make the most of it.

I looked at old workouts and another thing that helps I think is cross training. I will do yoga or stationary bike later to help myself a little more.
