Bad race. Shitty, incompetent competition. Just a really frustrating and annoying race. Not a true reflection of my abilities so I could care less about my result. Next time I'm going to lead the race if people are going to be this stupid. First mile split was 4:48, two mile split I recorded a 9:38 (so already off to a slow jog) then just ran 4:30ish pace for the rest , not much I could do other than run in lane 3 I suppose. Surged way too many times, pointlessly because everytime I'd move up into the top pack and get a good placement, a couple idiots would come right up from the back and slow it back down to 5 min pace for all of us. I expected this for maybe a lap or two but this was pretty much incessant for the first 2 miles, in a sort of start-stop, surge-jog type fartlek workout. Maybe that was the plan and I was just out of the loop but for me it was the most unprofessional, immature, and annoyance of a race. I guess the most interesting part was on lap 2 or 3 when a guy tried to race me on the home stretch as I surged for better placement. Anyways, the race is over and I'm ready for next time.
