Notes

Well not my goal of sub 3 but I can’t be upset with this at all. I started training after being a fat ass for 6 months on June 6 with some 8:40 runs. I had only 5 weeks where I ran over 50 miles. And I somehow pulled today out of my ass.

Honestly I nailed the prep for today. I ran at 5 am everyday this week (except for Saturday), at the same meal every day for dinner the whole week (chicken breast, rice, broccoli sweet potato), took Metamucil 1-2x every day, carboloaded Friday night, got 8 hours a night and even got 7 last night with a 4 am wake up.

This morning I woke up at 4, large black coffee from cumbys, stale bagel toasted plain, half a nun tablet in some water, and lots of water. Was able to clear my system very well for the race, didn’t even fart once.

Started out a bit faster than I wanted with a 6:46 but jus chilled. Ran the first four miles in my grey Rpi half zip. Was kind of chilly and windy so I wanted to stay warm. Smart move. I worked my way up over those 4 miles and found the lead women who were running for sub 3. Hung with them for about 8 or 9 miles but something was up and they dropped really fast so I was on my own. I met up with a guy around 13 or 14 and we ran the whole thing together until the end.

Felt good through 20 but the hilly section got to me. I think I had a slow 23rd mike (7:01) but kept pushing. I really worked the hills in the last 2 miles. Came to 26 and realized I had 60 seconds to run .2 so I hauled ass but came up a little short. My calves were in shock from the screaming down hill and sprint so I couldn’t dig it out at the end. All in all good day. Weather was perfect, I raced smart (and consistent identical halfs). I just feel like shit now.

Was kinda hoping I’d run bad so I could quit but I may have qualified for Boston so I need to keep running. I’m taking this week off, then doing spac but after that I don’t have any running plan. I may try to win my turkey day 5k again idk. I think I’ll just go for a mile indoor so I can PR and prove lynch is a luke warm coach
