started out with plenty of energy, wind behind me so a bit hot. happy for rest breaks--at turnaround and at fountain onway back. both places saw herons. beautiful sky--predawn--those fluffy white clouds illuminated from below--redish orangish pinkish. patches of blue sky visible here and there. surprised by the sight of oshima once i got to the beach. dead seaturtle still there, though someone had turned it over. more horrifying that way, oddly. few surfers--waves blown out but pretty big. moon clearly visible last night, full or fullish.
