Diane and I ran our classic route around the Ridge at Lake Sonoma.
We stopped at the Keyhole to chat with Renay, the recently widowed wife of Michael Fanelli. Michael manually logged over 114,000 miles. He won races from 440 yards to 100 miles. He was a coach for the USA track team. He was a historian. And he amassed a large collection of Track memorabilia that was shared with commentary to his thousands of Facebook friends.
Michael was always generous and kind to me. But I will remember him as the most meticulous and intense runner I ever knew.
