About me: I live in a rural area south of Sheboygan, WI. I work in Milwaukee which is about an hour drive but am able to work from home a couple times per week. I am married to my wife Kelly since 2003 and have 2 kids, a boy and a girl. I am active in my church and am part of a couple of different Bible studies which are great and keep me in the Word and hold me accountable. |
Why do I run: To maintain my weight and level fitness. To train for upcoming races. Because it is fun. |
Why I started running: To lose weight. When I started running in March 2010 I weighed 290. I could tell things were going downhill faster and faster - my health was degrading at a quicker and quicker rate with each passing moment of my overweight existence. So I decided it was time to change things and I figured running would be the most effective way to do this. I eventually got down to 190 and am currently at 215 which seems very sustainable. I don't mind being on the heavier side of the BMI scale because I'm a big and tall guy (like an ogre) and in addition to running I really enjoy weight lifting. I don't want to be a skinny marathoner. I want to be a big and strong trail ultrarunner. Strength is important for the hilly trail running I love. |
