Notes

We decided to spend two nights in Slovakia on the way to Krakow because we knew there were trails there and the drive would have been too long between the two cities anyway. This plan ended up having many benefits as we were able to both get a good run in and just spend some lazy down time there as there is nothing to do or see in Donovaly. It is a ski town and seriously off season right now so we had the not altogether incorrect feeling of having the town entirely to ourselves.

We checked out the map and determined that there was a trail through the countryside that traversed eight miles to the next town. I decided to do the entire out and back but got lost a couple of times on the way out in spite of pretty great trail markers. It was really the fault of the fog which was unbelievably dense. The visibility was sometimes only about fifteen feet or so. I felt claustrophobic and on the verge of being lost forever most of the day. Stressful. I did have to backtrack a couple of times but finally got on a clear trail to the far town. I got a coffee and a strudel at the turn around in a strange little place and then worked my way home slowly with Zephyr.

A good, slow run in a slightly creepy environment. Definitely memorable.
