Notes

There is hope! This is the first run I have done in as long as I can remember that went well, and for no good reason. Both of my last two workouts were kind of tough and so I was planning a slow, easy recovery day.

We stayed in the City last night so this gave me an opportunity to do one of my favorite runs - out to the bridge and back. It was a beautiful sunny morning and I planned to run 10s, easy. I kept checking my watch every time it would beep and each mile that followed my warm up mile was faster than the last: 9:40, 9:20, 9:05, 8:40! Each time I said to myself "slow down" but I felt good and the pace was easy.

On my return from the bridge I felt almost weightless. My stride felt smooth and my heels floated up behind me with no effort. I tried to think of nothing, focusing on my cadence like a meditation, and hoped the feeling would last more than a minute or two and it did. It was perfect bliss for the entire gravel stretch along the shore, more than a mile.

It was still good after that as I ran back through Chrissy Field and up and over the hill back to Aquatic Park. Why aren't more days like this one?
