Mile time trial round three with the other class of Jane Addams second graders. I missed running with the girls due to walking with mason for the end of his mile but I was ready for this boys race. Went out a little quicker in this race because these kids took off and looked like they had some spunk. There was three boys up front who were all making bold moves and with another pacer in the mix this race was looking to get a little feisty especially since mom had offered ice cream to anyone able to beat me. The first lap went pretty smooth but that appeared to be all these kids could handle. After lap one Charlie, the new owner of the trampoline, was in the lead and i was pacing right with him but then he had to walk. He was getting pretty antsy while he was doing so and kept on looking back to see if the others were catching us. Walk turned into slow jog and eventually lap two was complete. Lap three brought some more excitement as some other class members made a surge but shortly after charlie made another surge to reclaim the lead. I continued to pace with him for the rest of the race where I tried to convince him to keep a steady pace but there was still sporadic surges and looks back. this continued until the last turn where the second grade girls from his class cheered us on and we closed strong and i pulled away at the line to secure that no ice cream would need to be purchased.
