Notes
Overall I had a good day at the Freedom Four. I had hoped to get closer to breaking 26 minutes - something I haven't done in a while now - but the course and humidity put that a little out of my reach. The first mile rocketed downhill on Wilson Boulevard towards Rosslyn and I knew it would be a fast one. I wasn't at all surprised to be under 6 minutes. But I also knew there would be a payback for that later heading back up the same hill. In mile 2 I got passed by a number of runners which surprised me, because I felt like I was still running at a strong cadence. I decided to be patient and wait for the hill. At the turnaround I was in 42nd place. The route back was definitely tough but I started to pick some runners off and then ground out the big hill heading back. My pace was slowed but so was everyone else's. I ended up 2nd in the age group, behind Ted Poulos as usual. I just can't beat him at short distances. But I should have gotten some solid points in the runwashington.com rankings.
