Change in facebook interface with update?

I know facebook is a touchy subject...not a complaint here, just an apparent change I observed.

A lot of my facebook friends have linked their logs so I am used to seeing those on facebook. However today I saw someone had "liked an article", which was in fact a thread from an RA user group. I'm not even sure how they "liked" it to make this happen.

Anyways it got my attention as something I had not seen before and I wondered if it was intended.

2013 goals: Kick some arse. Moreso than 2012.

The facebook "like" button at the top of the thread?

Ah. I didn't realize that actually functioned in that manner, I'd never seen anyone do that before.
