Express it.
That is the number of cigarettes I would have smoked in the last 8 1/2 years had I not quit when I started running...so instead of smoking 62,000 cigarettes over 8 1/2 years...I ran 10,000 miles. It was amazing to hit 10,000 lifetime miles on my run today...it's not something I ever thought possible!

Very nice. From one former smoker to another (7.5 years)...Well done. **high fives knifey**
We can let the circumstances of our lives harden us so that we become increasingly resentful and afraid, or we can let them soften us, and make us kinder. We always have the choice.
Congratulations! 10,000 miles is amazing, as are you!

Congrats knifey!
...and for any of you who still struggle...(just worked for me).
You should go get the clap just so you can give it to her. --beef

been about 5 years or so since i read the illustrated version; still cigarette free.
I bought myself a reflective running jacket.
It sits in the corner reading works by Descartes and Proust.
I agree - congrats - I quit in 1999 (after 11 years) - Didn't start running until 2003

Bravo.
That's a new car!
That's 2.5 days in a hotel room with Suzy.
Seriously, though. Way to go! You are an inspiration.
Excellent!
As a former smoker myself I have to keep in mind:
We are always only one puff away from being addicted again.

Congratulations! That is impressive. Great achievements -- the quitting, the running, and the number of halfs!

Thanks again everyone and kudos to my fellow ex-smokers!
And Joe, this is so true...I always say I'm just 2 days off in a row (from running) to smoking. I would hope that wouldn't really be the case but I don't want to find out!
