Quote from Mrs Hub on 9/5/2007 at 1:54 AM:wow! great thread! Kirsten I was stunned when I saw your before photos too. Amazing work. I am excited that running can do so much to help weight and even the amount of time that you can drop off of your pace. I was worried that I would always be a slow poke
Thanks! But I can't credit running with my weight loss at all. I haven't lost a single pound with running (even though it was my primary reason for starting).
I lost my weight by watching carbs (cutting out all white flour, white sugar, white rice, potatoes--high glycemic carbs...eating lots of veggies and low-glycemic fruits, instead) and calories very carefully. I had tried the low-fat thing for years but all I lost was sanity and will to live. By the end of the day the blood sugar fluctuations had me wanting to gnaw my arm off. The only reason I can eat "normal" levels of carbs now is because I am actually burning them off at a regular rate. I come from a family of people with blood sugar issues and was well on my way to type 2, myself, if I hadn't reined things in when I did. About a year ago a good friend of mine was diagnosed and seeing what she has to deal with makes me so thankful that I took control when I did. |

Wow, girl, I'd be flaunting those 2s, too! How long did it take you to lose that weight and how did you do it?
