Expecting a thread on RA to remain pure and un-hijacked is simply unreasonable. Oh... and thanks for the updates on this one, Purdey. I do appreciate it! Big grin (for real)

She is absolutely amazing. There is nothing quite like seeing someone drop the hammer at mile 84 of a race and hit a 6:30 per mile pace!
That is pretty much the definition of amazing, but the word seems to fall a little short. We need a new and improved word to better describe the effort these athletes make.

              Non-Stroller-Still Crazy

God this thing is way to close to call. Normally, if someone has a 1-2 hour lead with 13 miles to go you say “Anything can still happen after 122 miles of racing”. What the H$ll do you say when they are just 17-30 minutes apart? Anything less than 15 minutes between finishers is considered a photo finish. God could you imagine a full out sprint for the line after 135 miles? My money is on Jamie if it comes down to a sprint. She was a former collegiate track athlete and I have seen her “Ultra marathon closing speed”. It is freaking ridiculous!

The latest I saw, Jamie wasn't up there. Have you got an update? I hope Pam is still kicking Dean's ass! Agreed. With 17 mins (at last CP) between Jorge and Akos, they are effectively neck and neck! Amazing.

                  Non-Stroller-Still Crazy

The last report at mile 90 showed Jamie about 30 minutes behind Pam. Jamie had stomach problems earlier according to one report. However, they said she was running strong now. The next split for the women should come up very soon. That split will be very telling but it will by no means determine the winner. The men’s race is just stupid(In a good way)! Pacheco and Konya are just flying. The record isn’t in jeopardy but boy was it close. They have just a few miles to go and only 32 minutes separates them. Either one of them still could win it!

Apparently, this is how crazy you have to look to lead the women at mile 90 of the Bad water! You still have to respect her whether you think she is crazy or not! She is freaking fast. Pamela Reed

I guess Jamie is currently the craziest girl out there! She is currently 3rd overall and hammering it! Her average pace since mile 90 is a staggering 6.08 mph. Let me say WOOOOOOOW! She is running HARD at mile 122! That is simply inconceivable(And yes the word means what I think it means)! If I hadn't seen her closing speed myself I wouldn't have believed it either! Trust me I was trying to keep up with her at mile 84 even though I was the one who was supposed to be doing the "Pacing". She is for real and she is simply unreal at the same time!

                                Akos is in only 29 minutes after Jorge. A very respectable run. Jamie is only minutes ahead of Dean now and Pam is still right there only 18 minutes behind Jamie. Get your cameras out this is going to be a close one! 1 8 Pacheco Jorge m 40 Los Angeles California USA MEX 1000 2:16 5:32 10:30 14:19 20:40 22:26 23:20:16 2 2 Konya Akos m 33 Oceanside California USA HUN 1000 2:16 5:41 11:10 15:03 20:57 22:58 23:49:44 3 17 Donaldson Jamie f 33 Littleton Colorado USA USA 1000 2:40 6:55 13:54 18:26 23:44 4 4 Karnazes Dean m 45 San Francisco California USA USA 1000 2:21 6:28 13:03 18:05 23:48 5 11 Reed Pamela f 47 Tucson Arizona USA USA 1000 2:37 7:00 13:44 17:56 24:02
