3650 Miles in the Hurtlocker

If they aren't going to talk through things at the MRI appointment, then I would definitely say it's waaaaay better for your wife to be at the next appointment with the orthopaedist.  I work in an orthopaedic research unit based in a specialist orthopaedic hospital, and have a lot of clinical colleagues working on tumours (both benign as you rightly suspect is most likely for you - and due to joint dysfunction, osteochondroma, giant cell tumours etc  - and he cancerous end of the spectrum),  so please feel free to ask anything and I can see if any of those guys can help (although I expect your cousin will have lots of answers and helpful colleagues).

At least it isn't too long until Thursday.  Thinking of you.

After a trip to the ER today, I find that not only did I break my face, I also broke a rib.

Damn.  There wasn't much pain initially but it has since gotten worse so had X-rays

      this afternoon.

Dr. said, "If it hurts don't do it.  If it doesn't hurt do it."

      As it stands, running hurts.

Darn.  Sorry to hear that Tea.  Broken ribs are darn painful.  I hope you get some cessation in the pain soon and are managing to move around okay...I found coughing, sneezing and rolling over in bed pretty horrific to begin with.  I hope you can be back running soon.  Take care of yourself and sending you healing vibes.

Thanks, Hop!  Yes, pretty much all you say hurtsSad

Spaniel - When I fell during the marathon on Saturday, I also cracked the

rib.  I just didn't realize it at first.  I thought that it was the same niggle I've had in

the past.  However, it has gotten worse the last few days so I went to the ER today.

Somehow I missed or forgot that.  Dang, heal up.  I hear beer helps with that.

+1 on all counts.  I went back and looked.  Finished the race and hit the beers before getting stitched up.  Hard core.

                  Not at it at all.

Ha-ha.  Wish I'd have thought of that while with the DR.  All I had in mind was that he didn't

out right tell me not to run

Tho, I suspect that this will be the longest I've gone without running since I quit smoking in2002.

But hey, many people have it worse, so I won't wallow in self pity.

Bummer Steph. I broke ribs when boxing and doing martial arts. What helped was an ace bandage wrap. I managed to still be able to do some things with much reduced pain.

                          Beer helps too.

                          Heal up fast.

The Dr. in Emergency said that they don't wrap any more because it causes

pneumonia.  Might try it just while running.  I ran short and slow with my dog yesterday

and I had to try not to jiggle too much or breath too deep.

Trying to figure out how to get a few miles in with busticated ribs.  Hurtlocker-worthy, and I am such a slacker.

Interesting. Of course mine happened many years past. Good luck and what spaniel said - running with broken ribs = very hurtlockerish!
