Just hit my mileage goal this past week.  I've been able to increase my miles in each of the past 4 years.

I ran my first 2 half marathons this year with the best at 2:11.

Looking to finish strong and improve on both of those in 2020!!

My only real goal was to have a respectable showing at Boston and I did that.  The rest of the year had a good beginning and a good end, with six months of injury frustration in the middle.  I also ran four marathons this year, which was unexpected.

          My favorite highlights were:

-Running Boston and qualifying again for 2020

-Two 1:27 half marathons, which got me NYCM automatic qualifying

          -Three sub-40 10Ks

-Getting through my third Ironman on a day when I struggled

I did hit my 1000 mile goal a couple weeks ago, so now my goal is 1100. In the 13 yrs I've been running, I have only been over 1000 a couple times, so I was happy to hit my goal a little early and then be able to bump it up a notch.

I hit my mileage goal really early after stepping things up a bit from April onwards.

At the start of the year my goals for 2019 were:

              Have fun (HAVE HAD HEAPS!!)
Don't get injured (so far so good - fingers crossed)
Do some new races (3x: Maraetai Half Marathon, The Agency Group 10,000m, Kerikeri Half Marathon)
Beat my half marathon PB (um yeah this went pretty well)

Run a sub-34 10km (ran 33:15 at NZ Road Champs and then 32:58 on the track)

Run a sub-16 5km (aiming to get this next Friday)

The half marathon PB has been the most satisfying.  I targeted 4 races spread through the year with the aim of knocking as much as I could off my previous PB (1:15:40 at the start of the year).  I ended up PBing at all 4 of them!  I would've been stoked just to run 1:14: xx and I could hardly believe my results at Dunedin (1:12:49) and Kerikeri (1:10:46) which were both races I trained really hard for and felt like I absolutely nailed it on the day.

It's also nice to learn more about yourself as a runner.  I learned that my strengths are steady/even pacing, being comfortable going it alone (I'm a bit of a lone wolf), and staying strong even in tough weather conditions.  Also I am terrible in hot weather.

                Pain is my friend

I hit over my yearly goal about a week ago.  Most miles every run in one year. Ran my most miles in a month in Nov. 374. Miles are way high the end of the year due to an end of year Ultra.

I hit my mileage goal in the middle of my 100 mile race this past weekend (which I finished this time!!!!). Since I'm taking at least two weeks off, I'd say I chose my goal pretty well this time.

My personal goals this year were to get some speed back and BQ at my spring marathon, then focus more on mileage so I could actually finish the 100 miler I had to quit (at mile 96) last year.

Glass City Marathon in April - BQ-8

Brazos Bend 100 last weekend - finished in 25 hours, 20 minutes and 23 seconds. it was the USATF 100 Mile Trail Championship race and I ended up winning the 50-54 age group in that! Plus the race itself does masters as 50+ instead of 40+, so I was second overall female master. And first master was second overall, so I may get bumped up to first master.

So I'd say in answer to the question, I absolutely hit all my goals in 2019.

So far its been a great year!

I got my first OTQ in the marathon and ran 2:16 twice!

I also brought my half marathon down 90 sec.

Ran my first 10k on the track and broke 30 min for the first time.

Because of breaking my ankle, and its still not all the way back. Then achilles for over using the other leg in the comeback

2018 was a fatigue-riddled, injury-plagued trainwreck. 2019 was the best year of my running career. Other than some nagging hamstring issues during the summer, I could not have asked for much more.

                              - Ran my first Boston. A rough day, but I ran it as well as I could have, and the whole weekend was an amazing experience.

                              - Mileage >2600. I’ve been >2300 in 5 of the the last 6 years.

                              - 5k PR, and first sub-20

                              - 10k PR, twice

                              - HM PR, twice, for NYCMQ

                              - Marathon PR, which was also an NYCMQ and BQ-13.

                              - The last 3 PRs came in a 7 week period ending with the marathon on 12/1.

To cap it all off, being on a great mileage game team getting to the finals has made things that much more fun.

                                Amazing.

Some of us are just run of the mill guys.  But we have goals, too.

I achieved mine, which was simply to get back to the place where I could survive 30 min on a regular basis without lots of pain in my knee.

Looking forward to a better year in 2020.
