Last August Fri-Dailies (Read 41 times)

It's Friday at 6 AM and you guys already have the bar open.   Meanwhile, I thought I had enough coffee left to get me through today and tomorrow, only to find out that DD apparently made coffee for herself and a friend yesterday, and they used the last of it.

Last night I had an evening event at work, and didn't get home to do my MP run until late.  When I run at night, especially if it's quality work, I generally run the 2-mile loop around my neighborhood.  Man, I so wanted to stop running and crawl into bed every time I got close to my house!  I considered packing it in so many times, but I did keep going and finish the run.  I faded in the last few miles, but that's still better than stopping, I figure.  And it was good mental practice in you don't just throw in the towel because you've fallen a bit off pace.

Yes, Shari has limited time for RA/RWOL, and sometimes even FB during this period because of that new project she is undertaking.  She is still running but not as much as she would like (she is in my 2014 in 2014 team and she posts there more than here).  I'll tell her you said hi.

My dad just called me on his way to the vet.  He found his dog all bloodied and vomiting.  He thinks she passed a crystal and I am hoping is that and nothing more serious.  I hope she makes it.

Taking an extra rest day today in case the weather is nice enough to race tomorrow. It is a beautiful morning. Cloudy and 74. The rain has stayed west of us so far in Funkytown (Fort Worth).

          Personal Bests:

          800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)

Read the thread, D! I actually happened to drop in and said "Hi" myself. :P

20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.

I'm not sure if my easy run pace should be getting slower, from putting more into the quality workouts, or if it should be getting faster, since I should be getting faster in general.

Here is my overall pace the past five weeks. Note that the week of July 27 was the last week of me transitioning from the 5 and 10k training season to marathon race training.

There has been no shortage of speed work in that time yet it shows a gradual yet steady decrease in overall pace.

So does MRT have an effect on pace, specifically easy pace?  You are damned right it does.

Ha, I noticed right after I posted.  For some reason it jumped me from page 1 to 3 without reading part of page 2.

First, aren't you running more miles?  Second, ISN'T IT HOTTER now than in July?  I wouldn't get hung up on numbers without the overall picture.  FWIW, my easy pace does not get slower during marathon training.  My 5K race pace might (it has in some training sessions, it has not in others).

Damn, LRB. Looking good. Needless to say, I am envious.

It is hot today, I have a headache, I have to sit in a stupid meeting ALL day, and I am grumpy. At least they have coffee and breakfast at said meeting.

                    Thank you, three day weekend.

Well I am not hung up on anything and the overall picture is that one should expect a drop in easy pace when engaged in MRT specifically due to the increase in mileage regardless of the season.  Unless of course that person trains for marathons year around then it would all be the same, save for the effect of weather which would then have an impact on easy and long run pace if it is one extreme or the other.

As to how it all relates to me, my first, second and third miles take way longer to loosen up than they would during my 5 and 10k training season.  At or about mile four or five however, I am indeed running closer to my "normal" easy pace.  But as we know, easy is an effort not a pace, so with the increased volume of mileage and training the effort is not as easy as it would otherwise be.

Breakfast?  That was a yummy egg sandwich and grits....um Scotty, you may wanna cover your eyes.  lol

                            Of course!  lol

That would really suck about the coffee!  My rule was/is that I do not mind someone taking the last of whatever it is in the house, just let me know that you did.

                            Simple enough right?  Wrong!

Easy 7 mile run done.  8:24 pace.  Pretty much a jogging effort.  5 shot Americano for recovery.  *sip*  Now I sit here waiting for the exterminator to arrive and tend to a bee problem (the real reason I took today off from work).   Once he leaves, I'll be grabbing some sushi and doing some errands.

The first paragraph ended up with me saying wait, what?  I always run like the second paragraph explains.  I cannot even breathe until Mile 4.
