Wednesday _____ Penguins (Read 26 times)

PADRunner

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the caommon benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!) Jan 22 Answer Your Cat’s Question Day -- If you will stop what you are doing and take a look at your cat, you will observe that the cat is looking at you with a serious question. Meditate upon it, then answer the question!  Hmmm. Can't make this stuff!

4 min Elliptical last night and 30 this morning. My knee did alright so I'm going to try a mile on the TM & cross tonight and see how it feels.

      Barking Mad To Run

BRRR!  It is cold in San Antonio this morning for us, woke up to 36 degrees!  However, it will heat up quickly, by the time I go run after work it will be 70 degrees.  We have crazy weather. Tomorrow and Friday will be our 'chilly' days of the week, as some polar air works down from the North, and then by the weekend, we will be going back to normal again...

I was going to go to one of my favorite nearby parks to run...but the police this morning issued an alert on the news that a MOUNTAIN LION was spotted in that park!    WTF?  I think someone does not like this park and may have put a curse on it.  This is the same park where that poor young lady runner was murdered in last month.  So I think it's off to run in a different park than that one!  Or I may even do the Riverwalk today.

            Singer who runs a smidge

Both my cats are sound asleep right now, so I'm not sure there's a question there.  Working from home again today -- we didn't get a lot of snow, but it's 11 degrees, so it ain't melting, and I don't really want to drive around in it.  I'm also trying to delay quartet practice to Saturday, because driving down to Richmond and then heading back at 9:30 doesn't sound like a great idea either.

Oh, and the bread was quite yummy ... there's maybe half a loaf left!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Hi Pens. SRD for me. Marathon training with DW starts in two weeks so we are base building.

                See ya.

                Former Bad Ass

Morning! 7 miles tonight if I can.  Taking care of a friend going through surgery today, so we'll see.

I feel that my cats look at me and mock me.

Morning!  Track workout tonight- probably 4 x 800.  I will have to get creative with my scheduling for the rest of the week because we have two family birthdays (DD and BIL) and I didn't run yesterday.

PAD- Hope the knee feels great today!

Scotty- We have cougars all over around here.  At one point, there was one spotted directly to the north, south, east, and west of my house.   Usually they don't mess with people, but dogs can get into trouble, particularly if they are silly enough to charge up and try to chase them.  I was just reading an article in National Geographic this morning about the cougars who have moved into the hills around LA.  They even cross the freeways down there!

Bin- Nice job on the easy miles.

HsM- Glad you're able to work from home on days like that!

Jack- Enjoy the RD, but don't get too used to it.

D- Hoping for a good outcome for your friend.

Hola Penguins! No run for me today. Seriously. No run. Must....not....run...

It's bugging me to deviate from my HM plan that I've been following for 9 weeks, and skip a run or 2 to (hopefully) let my gimpy knee calm down. It feels fine today and I keep trying to convince myself it will be ok if I just do a couple of miles to "test it". NO. Bad Penguin!

My mom was clearly wrong, I'm not very bright

                      Dad on the run.

Hello my fellow penguins! A guy at work wanted to run yesterday after work and do some hills. I was a bit scared because of previous IT band issues but I figured I'll never make gains if I don't put it behind me and see how it holds up. We ended up doing 4 miles in 40:47 so we had an avg pace of 10:07! Not only did we do hills but this is the first run of the new year where I didn't walk/run. The thing that sucked the most was the 41 degree weather with 15mph headwind while trying to run uphill! sheesh...

Anywho here is the elevation profile, I hope this qualifies for hill work.

My city is going crazy!  We just now got the news about this:

                          Skirt Runner

My school was closed today even though NYC public schools were open. We got about a foot of snow, more in some places and it is currently a "real feel" of -18....so glad my school closed! Got to have a nice long gym session. Did 10 minutes of the Arc Trainer (wanted to run BEFORE spin class but didn't quite get there early enough so I just chilled on the Arc for a few minutes), a 55 minute spin class, and the ran/walked 1.5 miles at a 2:00 min run/1:00 min walk interval. Was a great workout!

I started a blog about running :) Check it out if you care to

Answer Your Cat’s Question Day--- "Yes, you're my favorite."   Then when the other two asked, I told them the same thing.

PAD-- Good luck with your knee today!

Scotty-- Answer to mountain lion-- no you can't eat me.  Have fun with your (hopefully safe) run.  You scared me talking about that you getting some of that cold, so I checked to see if we were also, but it looks like it's gonna miss us:

Bin-- good job on the 5 today.

HOpesMom-- brrrrr@ 11* degrees.   I'd wanna stay home and eat bread instead, also.

Docket--- LOL@ your cats mocking you!

Zelanie-- good luck with the track workout tonight.

SO42-- your mom was right, you are bright.  You know better then to run.  Whether you're sensible or not is to be determined....  Stay off that knee!

Jimmy-- great job!  Running with a friend can help so much.   It's like our brains forget to tell us "No, I can't."

Yikes @ that story Scotty!  I guess we all do need to be careful and alert to what's going on around us every time we run.

Today I'm taking a RD (I guess neither scheduled or unscheduled, as i've just been doing whatever.)  I'm going to go on a short hike with a friend, and then to brunch.  Should be fun!  Take care friends!
