      Howdy Dailies,

Inspired by some of the dedicated, obsessive, crazy runners' posts I read on this group, I decided to change my friday off for an easy 6-7 K this week and see how my body reacts next week from not having its usual break day.

Helloooooooo.  It is Friday and I am lacking motivation this morning.  I've got easy run planned after work in the 4-6 mile range.

Fun day off from work yesterday attending DW's annual company summer outing.  It was at one of those outdoor function resorts and we basically played all day.  Shot some hoops, played badminton and tennis, had a softball game, ate food.  I sure can launch a softball...not sure how or why with my light, skinny frame.  And yeah, I can step outside and run 15 miles just fine, but running around the basepaths makes everything hurt.

14 this morning, after my coffee. I'll try to keep them at easy/moderate effort. Then after my run, I have administrative work to do with our businesses. That's the part of our jobs I most dislike. I used to be good at it, but ever since I started running, it's like all desk jobs are too slow and boring for me, now. Urgh... it must be done, though.

running around the basepaths makes everything hurt.

Just think of it as a very small track.

So I was awakened at 3:00 by the damn dog scratching on the bedroom door. Finally feeling ready to fall back asleep by about 4:30, but my alarm was set for 5 to go run. So I decided falling asleep at that point was a bad idea, and just got up. Not sure what is wrong with my brain that I don't think it's the getting up at 5 to run is the bad idea.

            Anyway, 10.2 very muggy miles.

Such a big difference in doing my long run this week in 80 degrees and a dew point of 73 vs last week when the temperature was in the low 70s and dew point in the 50's. 8 miles done today, but it was not fun.

              Personal Bests:

              800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)

I debated for 15 minutes on whether to go to the gym and run on a treadmill or hit the pavement in 79 degrees, 80% humidity and a dew point of 72.... well I chose the road. I figured hell, I am going to be sweating and miserable either way, might as well not be moving in place.

I got 6 miles in before 5 AM, then showered and went back to bed.

Next week is promising lots of storms so maybe I'll hit the gym more often, at least on Monday and Thursday.

Morning everyone. DD#2 was up at 6 for her morning feeding. We went through that pretty quick and I was laying her down by 6:30. I threw some running clothes on and was able to knock out 3 miles, including 6 strides in 27 minutes. Came inside and did another 90 second plank.

I started doing this month-long planking challenge, but I stopped at the 90 second mark because my core is too feeble. For the last month I've been doing 90 seconds and it's finally starting to get there. I might be able to finish that dang challenge.

                          Barking Mad To Run

Back from my spinal injection.  Now, per the doc, I am to relax the rest of the day...no prolonged sitting (so I have the day off of work since my job consists of sitting at a computer all day), no prolonged standing, no lifting, etc.   So today I sit for a bit, then stretch out on the floor for a bit, then sit for a bit again, ad infinitum.   I will probably nap a lot today.    By tomorrow the med will be into my system and I will be feeling great.    Race #47 for the year tomorrow, a 5K.

Sounds like a fun day for you yesterday, Baboon.  Yeah, softball.  I used to be the catcher on a  team some years ago.  I can't even bend down into that position anymore, lol.   Hope your run goes well for you today!  4 - 6 miles..that's a pretty short outing for you these days.

Early run for you, Dave!  Dog scratching on the bedroom door?  What, you don't let the dog sleep on the bed with you?  How rude...poor doggie...    Congrats on the 200 for the month!

Cheer up, Dan!  Weather man says we may be getting a cool front coming in.....by the first week of September.  So we'll just have to deal with those 100s again for next week.    Watching our local weather guy and he showed the US temps...and our weather yesterday, for once the  temp was higher than Miami's...even the heat index - gasp!  Not good!  Damaris!  Take your weather back!

Wednesday night run, Damaris?  You're living in a parallel universe where the week days are in a different order?

Glad you got a run in, Andrew.  Yeah, my doc today gave me the 30-day plank challenge too, said it would help with my specific problem.  Umm, ok.  I am so really enthusiastic about it.

Lily, hope your miles went well!

B-Plus..this is for you.....we will be glad to help you wake up....

well in fact she does sleep on the bed with us (although I insisted this would never happen, but ultimately gave in to DW). She was actually trying to get OUT for some reason.

I remembered just in time that this was supposed to be a goal pace run. I'm getting confused with my Pfitz schedules of the past few years.  So, 14 miles done, 7:57 overall pace. First 8 miles at MP, next 5 easy and last mile at cool down pace. It was a cooler 24*C (75F) with 56% humidity, so the whole thing felt fairly easy. Now a bath, some work and I'll run some more easy miles later this afternoon.
