Lost In Time With The Thursday Penguins! (Read 30 times)

Fear is a Liar

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the caommon benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Fear is a Liar

      Good morning Penguins!

Jerry - I didn't wear Yak Trax , just my shoes. They would have been nice to have! I tried to run in tire tracks or cleared areas.

Ginny - I do field service so none of my jobs are in the same place. Some accounts are further than others.

A lot of my runs are randomly done with no real route planned out. I tend to link different subdivisions together.  On last Saturdays's run I was about 10 miles in when it hit me that I had no idea where I was! What happened was I made my turn one street too soon. That was a weird feeling though.

        Hi ya Gustav!

I still haven't run since Sat, I really need to try today though.

        LRB

A lot of my runs are randomly done with no real route planned out.

I can do that every now and again but for the most part, I need to know where I am going (north, south, east or west) in general before I head out the door, but I can make changes on the fly no big deal.

          Supp Pens!

Speaking of the door, I am heading to the gym shortly for 6 or so miles on the belt with strides (short bursts of fast running).  Doing strides on the treadmill is always fun because you can crank the pace up to ridiculous numbers sometimes.

It does not quite take the same effort as running them on the surface does, but it still helps with foot turnover and and speed, no matter what your ability is.

Have a good day and stay warm...or should I say, stay cool!

          LRB

I still haven't run since Sat, I really need to try today though.

I took 10 days off after my first marathon, and six after my second.  If you feel up to it, great.  If not, get fat.  ;-)

Gustav, I actually map out the route in my mind before the run.. I only ran 1 or 2 outside.. The rest done on my boring 1/2 miles "indoor" loop..

Mitch, I think it's ok.. I have 2weeks over my marathon and I haven't done any outdoor run yet.. 7M the longest on the boring loop.

LRB, hello. I can't run long on TM.. bore me out.. Tongue

Still being lazy after the marathon... had been setting alarm at 6am+ and turning it off.. Tongue DW, DS & DW are at inlaw tonight... So, i force myself to have a wrap at 6pm and intend to do some outdoor at 8pm+ later.. 720pm where I am and I shld be knocking off in a while.. Oh ya.. Amazon delivered my shoes yday.. GT1000 in blue and red.. DS thinks it's shoes for Captain America. Maybe photos later when I can access FB from home.

              Return To Racing

Hi Bin, LRB, Gus, and Mitch.  We will do a random run today since we won't run on the snowy bike path. Going to be 40F so maybe we will try for 8-10.  Yesterday was a RD.

Hope the biopsy goes ok Damaris.

Morning!  My schedule says 12 miles but I still feel under the weather, so something less than that.  Trixie had a great night and I hope the biopsy goes well.

See you later.  Time to draft some important orders.

I just run whatever direction I feel like going that day. l pretty much know how far it is to my house from any point in my hood.

I rest today. Calf was very tired during yesterday's run; therefore, I cut it short.

                        Barking Mad To Run

I do field service so none of my jobs are in the same place.  Kinda like the Secret Service hookers, Gustav!    My runs are always like yours.  I  always have a chosen starting point for the run, but after that I tend to go in any direction I feel like going.  No real set mileage planned, no real set route planned, just run how I feel.  I always try to do at least 3 miles on every run I do, but sometimes end up with 4 or 5 miles depending on how I feel that day.   I think one of the reasons for my 'random running" is that I tend to go 'exploring' a lot when I go on a run.

                          Mitch....get out there today!

A delivery of new running shoes, Bin, sounds like a good reason to get out for a run!

Hope your TM run went well, LRB.

Nice to hear Trixie is doing better, Damaris!   Sorry you are feeling under the weather, hope you feel better.  BTW, when is your surgery scheduled for?

Congrats on the easy 4, PAD.

Sorry the calf is still bothering you, Dan.

Baking, mmmmm.....oatmeal raisin cookies by any chance, StoneFence?  What time will they be done?

AFM...haircut today and then after that another random run.  Beautiful day for it too, will be nearly SEVENTY-EIGHT degrees at 5 PM when I go for my run/walk.  Today is my "Thriday" too...after today, I won't be back to work until Jan 3.  Which I don't get, our HR has us coming back for ONE day to work on a Friday, after the holidays, and then we have the weekend.  You would think HR would've just made that day a 'skeleton crew' day, sheesh.  I feel a cough coming on...probably be really bad right around Jan 3....

                            Dad on the run.

Hey Penguins! Been a few days since I've checked in, work has been really busy this week and Sunday night we were up all night dealing with a sick kid, then again little sleep Monday night so Tuesday I was pretty much the equivalent to a zombie! Haven't got any running in but I did manage to work out Monday and Wed, Monday was aweful with the lack of sleep, I had that constant fear of my body saying "F*ck you" and dropping 170lbs on my chest :/ lol.

Anywho! Taking DD and DW to look at Christmas lights tonight, then we have a Christmas Party to go to tomorrow that my wife's boss is throwing and our "For the friends" Christmas party Sunday! Then we are off all next week. Woop Woop! Hoping to get some running in next week for sure.

Hog - I'm going to get signed up for that Rumpshaker next week when we get paid. I think I deleted my coupon email though, do you mind sharing that code with me?

Scotty-oatmeal/raisin/pecan cookies are on my list. DH wants to take some to the office tomorrow for the goody table.
