Mitch, good luck with the biopsy.

I understand.  Running will keep you sane.  Hope they are not too painful.

Damaris, thanks!  I am holding out hope that I'll be able to run the two HM's I have registered for (Feb 23 and March 23), depending on when (if) I have surgery.  If I can they'll have to be 13.1 mile jogs, but mentally it'll help get me through this.

PineGroveDave, I actually went through this already in 2009.  Tore my ACL, MCL, LCL, and meniscus.  Absolutely destroyed my knee.  I made a full recovery though.  I have no doubts I'll recover from this, but right now it's just messing with mentally.

      Good Morning, Dailies!!

Y’all have been busy this morning, and I LOVE it!!

Kay – Thanks for the coffee – I need it!  Hope the yoga reduces your soreness from yesterday’s bootcamp.

Beth – All this talk of swimming lately makes me think I should swim too.   Not sure where I’d find the time, but the thought of it is intriguing.   Enjoy your pool time and your 7 miles!

Nevrgivup – I am really glad that you’re enjoying your swim lessons.   It’s always fun to find a new way to develop yourself.   Have a great run later!

Flarunner – 8 already?   What an awesome start to your day!

April – Good luck with your mile repeats – those sound tough!   Stay safe in that weather!

Damaris – Enjoy Cirque tonight!   I hear it’s a great show!

Tom – Sounds like you need a canoe or webbed feet with all that water.  Wow!   Have a great run later!

Heidi – Nice job with the DVD already today!   Hope your run later is amazing!!

Kristin 10185 – Sorry to hear that your ITB issues continue without improvement.   L    Glad to hear that the ortho sounds like a good fit for you.

Lily – That could so be me and my husband!   In addition to watching utility expenditures, my husband has better night vision than I do (way better) so he just doesn’t feel the need for lights sometimes and I walk around using the Braille method (feeling my way along walls and furniture).   Pretty much constant bruising somewhere or other for me.   Hope your leg doesn’t bother you during your run later!

Shari – I’m really glad that your knee pain has subsided!   That’s a relief!  Have a great run!!

WCRunner2 – Hope your workout with the college team is both enjoyable and challenging!

ImNotScott – You found $10 on your run?  Wow!   Who says running doesn’t pay?   Good luck with your marathon training!

Scotty – Nice run in the cold yesterday!   May today’s run be warmer!

Lilac – Enjoy the group run tonight!  Hope you find lots of great swag!!

Basya – Your dedication to your training is so going to payoff in your marathon!   You are so reliably consistent with working out and taking care of yourself so I’m sure that you’re going to peak in Jerusalem!

LRB – Sounds like you’ve had quite a workout this morning!   I bet all those myrtles, squats, and lunges are going to help you kill it in your next race!

Robert – Way to get in a solid run on your day off!   Enjoy the rest of the day!

Code – Hope your 7 go easily tonight!   Sorry your schedule is so crazy right now, but I am confident that you will persevere and be the better for it!!

Baboon – I hate that the news from the ortho was not as good as we all were hoping (especially you)!!   Lo siento mucho! Hopefully, you can get on the surgery schedule quickly so that you can start killing it in rehab!!  Stay strong!  Live long and prosper!

PGD – Have a great run later!

Mitch – Fabulous runs yesterday and this morning!  Hope you get amazingly good news from your biopsy – fingers crossed!!

Zelanie – Enjoy the rest days – I really hope that they are beneficial for your troublesome hammy or knee.

I got in 10.52 outside last night.   With the wind chill, it was 30* with 12 mph winds, but after the first couple of miles, it really wasn't that bad.  I wore gloves, but my fingers were still really cold though.   I was very pleasantly surprised that I was able to average 10:07 pace for the distance - I didn't think I could do that even with a gun pointed at my head.....

Planning on an easy 3ish tonight after work.

Have a Pinktabular Wednesday, all!!   And, may your next run show you that you are capable of more than you think you are!!

Straight line good, side to side bad.

I see said the blind man!

        Supp Mitch!

        Hi Sarah!

        StepbyStep-SH

Phil - Sorry to hear that. I hope your fitness level helps aid in recovery when you do have the surgery.

Mitch - Sending vibes for a good report!

PineGroveDave - What's for dinner? I think I remember you posting some yummy looking dishes before.

Ended up with just 6.5 miles, and skipped the hill sprints due to a light dusting of fresh snow. I didn't want to try to go all-out and chance a foot slipping and pulling a muscle. Had to take a phone call from DS's school toward the end of the run, so I just cut it short.

20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.

              Hello dailies!

Ran an easy 3 last night.  It was 30 and sleeting again!  Felt fairly good.  Went to an area with much crazier hills to start getting ready for the hills in my goal race.

Have an easy 6 later today.  Weather should be much nicer, in the 40s.

Keeping a food diary has worked well so far.  I think the extra work of logging everything I eat has helped curb impulsive eating.

StepbyStep-SH - nice run!  Yeah, I can't imagine doing sprints in the snow, it must complicate things.

Zelanie - enjoy the rest days.  I hope your knee feels better soon!

hog4life - good luck with the biopsy!

PineGroveDave - enjoy your TM run later on!

Baboon - I'm so sorry you're going through all of this.  I wish you a speedy recovery.

c0derunner - have fun with your 7 later on!

              Better I Leave

PineGroveDave - What's for dinner? I think I remember you posting some yummy looking dishes before.

Well last night I prepared pork tenderloin oven baked with himalayan sea salt, white pepper, lemon juice, sherry, topped with heirloom tomatoes and onion accompanied by organic steamed broccoli and a nice quinoa w/ crimini mushrooms, shallots, garlic, and red bell pepper.

                Tonight I'm doing a shrimp dish...maybe a shrimp risotto but I haven't decided. Smile

Ahhh... That was wonderful.  Definitely needed the yoga today.  If three minutes in this pose doesn't relax you, nothing will.

                  Do you even run?

Three minutes?  Sheeit, I couldn't hold that pose for three seconds!

I am so glad you didn't go and do a max spin session for an hour the day after thrashing your legs.  You're growing up right before our eyes.

It brings a tear to my eye, ting!  ;'-)

                        Go figure

Hello!  This morning I just ended up doing an easy run, 12.14 miles total.  I'll do a double by running another 5 tonight with the running group.  Physically I felt like I could have done a quality workout this morning, but mentally I just felt like running and not worrying about paces - so that's what I did!

Baboon...So sorry to hear about the knee.  Man, I feel awful for you and can just imagine the frustration/battle to stay positive that you must be feeling.  Just know that we'll be thinking of you and putting in some extra miles with your name on them!

                          Mitch...Hope everything turns out well.

                          Barking Mad To Run

'Morning!  Knee doc appointment yesterday.  Doc says I re-tore my ACL and meniscus.  I had an MRI this morning to confirm.  Sooooo, it looks like 2013 will be another year of ACL surgery, recovery, and rehab.  With any luck, I'll be able to match my 5K PR some time around the end of 2014.  Honestly, I am still trying to process this mentally.  It's pretty much what I considered my worst case scenario.  Eh, whatever.  The doc said I was still young and should be able to make a full recovery, so calling me young was something positive.  Big grin

45 minutes on the elliptical last night felt great.  I'll be a doing a whole lot of that in the coming weeks.  I may try to start some light treadmill running in the next few days.  Doc gave me the ok as it doesn't hurt too much.

That sucks, torn meniscus and ACL. Sorry you have to go through that again.

Nice running in that cold weather, Pinktastic!   You too, buchy!

Gail was having a bad day at work yesterday,  so I surprised her by stopping at her office just as she was getting off work, and took her out to dinner, so her day would end better.

Very sweet of you to take your wife out.  She's a lucky lady. Smile
