Mitch: I'm praying for good results!  Thinking of you!

Phil: I know I commented on FB, but I wanted to mention here how sorry I am about the knee.  I know you must be so disappointed and frustrated.  I am pulling for you to have a full and fast recovery from this so you can get back out there and kick some tail on your runs, like you've been doing!

Sarah: Amazing job on that 10.5 miler - at that pace, in that weather???? Pure awesome!

Shari: Great job on the 6.5 today!

Buchy: Keep up the great work with the food diary!  I hope the run goes well today.

Docket: Pics of the new kicks please!

Well last night I prepared pork tenderloin oven baked with himalayan sea salt, white pepper, lemon juice, sherry, topped with heirloom tomatoes and onion accompanied by organic steamed broccoli and a nice quinoa w/ crimini mushrooms, shallots, garlic, and red bell pepper.

      Tonight I'm doing a shrimp dish...maybe a shrimp risotto but I haven't decided. Smile

:wipesdrooloffkeyboard: I'm coming to your house! That sounds incredible.

And to think I felt good about my homemade chicken and wild rice soup with almond flour/cheese flatbread. Blush

20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.

        Rick, Kay, excellent workouts.

        Robert, Shari, SIAR, nice runs.

c0derunner, Sarah, buchy2009, enjoy your runs.

Ouch, Baboon. May you have a speedy and complete recovery.

Mitch, great runs. Good luck with the biopsy.

Zelanie, I hope that resting helps.

Damaris, have fun with the shoe porn.

**giggle** Thanks, but I gotsta tell ya...there ain't nothin' wrong with a good homemade soup either. Chicken and wild rice sounds pretty damn tasty and given how cold it's been out here, soup is great cold weather food, ya know? I've decided on a shrimp, eggplant and basil stir fry for tonight. Pics to come. Big grin

kristin -  I've heard several opinions on this matter.  Some say 400 - 600 miles.  Some say 3 months (my roommate's old college track coach).  But last time I was in the local running store, the sales associate gave a rough estimate that varied for each shoe.  My old shoes were supposed to last for about 350 miles, he said, and the new shoes I bought were supposed to last 450 miles.

I think it also depends a lot on the individual runner's weight and gait.

              I hope this helps!

For me, I start to feel a difference right around the 400 mile mark. But I know others who get twice that from their shoes. I can tell mine need to be replaced when my lower legs feel beat up after a short run.

Kristin: I ditch mine at the very first ache I have once the shoes are > 300 miles.  I don't take any chances w/shoes.  I definitely change 'em out earlier than most people, I think.

I was going to try running today, but it snowed, so I didn't. Can't say I really felt like going out either. So that makes 3 consecutive days off.

Thanks guys! So many people talk about worn out shoes connected to injuries....but minehave less than 200 miles. Seems they have life in them still.

That depends on the shoe.  Some shoes do not have the normal life expectancy of 500 or even 350.  What shoes are those?

I've had my Asics Gel-Kayano 18s since this past April. I've had my Gel-Nimbus 5s and GT-2170s since this past May. How my body feels is not an indicator. I'm planning t o buy new shoes at the beginning of next month, so that I can break them in in time for my first marathon on March 1.

                            Are we there, yet?

I'm expecting to get about 600M on my current model. It's a lighter weight shoe than I had been using that I;d get 800-1000M on. Odd note is that I get far less miles from a pair of shoes now than I did 20-30 years ago when I would put upwards of 1500-2000M on a pair.

Almost bailed on my workout today. I'm probably still in recovery mode from Sunday's races but I decided I'd run some short, fast intervals anyway as long as I got full recovery between. Ran a mixture of 200m, 300m and 400m (3600m total) at paces varying from mile pace down to an allout sprint on the last 200m.

How do you manage to keep up with what everyone is doing? I feel a bit overwhelmed by the volume of comments here.
