Wonky Wednesday Penguins (Read 13 times)

Penguin Power!

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

    Penguin Power!

I've got Ginny-like hair. Pin straight won't hold a curl. I've had to get updos for weddings when I've been a bridesmaid and it is just terrible because it all falls out within an hour or two.

I am feeling wonky today because Jackie was up at 9, midnight, 2, 4, and 6 wanting to be fed. Normally she's down at 8pm up at 2 and maybe 5 to be fed. Needless to say my boobs are sore and I am tired Wink onwards though. I'm going to attempt the week 3 workout today. Hopefully Jackie cooperates.

I'm considering registering to run a 5k on December 16th in a local town with a friend. She had a baby in march and is running the NYC marathon this year. Insane!

Anyway I hope you all have a great Wednesday.

      Barking Mad To Run

Nice little run/walk this morning around the UTSA campus in the 59 degree weather.  Enjoying this cool front in San Antonio, which is going away today. Tomorrow our highs will be in the 80s again.    Yesterday after work got in 3.5 miles at Lackland Air Force Base.  Temp was nice, a cool 74 degrees, but the wind was crazy, especially when I was climbing and on top of the pedestrian highway overpasses on the base.

80s?  80s would sound mighty cold right now.

I never ran yesterday.  4-6 miles tonight.

Do you actually like living in Miami? Would you consider moving away for cooler weather?

            Singer who runs a smidge

Hot and soupy here again today, with some actual rain this morning.  At least my crazy hair is shorter now, due to yesterday's haircut!

So I should warn y'all now, that I'll be on vacation this Friday through Monday the 23rd.  We're going to the beach next week, and I scheduled an extra day off work on either end to help with packing, laundry, and baking on this end of the trip and re-entry on the other end.  So when you don't hear from me, don't panic!!

Scotty, how did your health issues pan out?

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

I've been wanting to move out of this hellhole forever.  Unfortunately, my husband always chickens out when we are close to it.  But the more he runs, the more he realizes it sucks down here.

I missed the announcement yesterday. Congrats on the baby penguin! May you and your honey take the 18 years of hard labor you've been sentenced to like a champ.

And good luck with your return to running, too!

Jill - I hope you were able to get a run in today, despite the lack of sleep.

Scott - sounds like a couple of good runs. How are the medical issues going?

HopesMom - have a great vacation!

AFM: Wet day here. Rain this morning and early afternoon, then just humid and a few drips late  afternoon. I got 8.2 fartleky miles in.
