Warrior Princess
After yesterdays duathlon, I can confirm that running in sand is indeed awful.
I might have missed an earlier message so sorry if this is a repeat question - How did it go?
2014 Goals: (Yeah I suck)
Running in powder snow sucks too.
Take Charge. Train Harder. Suck Less. No Excuses.
Trail Monster
I ended up with 21 miles in 20-ish degrees yesterday. Little slower than I wanted but for having three layers on and snow blowing in my face most of the time, I am quite happy with it!
60 miles for the week.
2013 races:
3/17 Shamrock Marathon
4/20 North Coast 24 Hour
7/27 Burning RIver 100M
8/24 Baker 50M

Surprisingly well. My finish time was 1:33:57. Given that my stretch goal was sub 1:40, I was pretty amazed. My runs were a little slower than I'd have liked but about 1 1/2 miles of the 5k course was on loose sand and I really hate beach running. My two 5ks were almost identical, though at 26:24 and 27:00 which seemed to make my coach happy. And while I wasn't great on the bike, I wasn't horrendous either. I ranked 9th in my age group on both run sections, 21st based on the bike which gave me 14/34 for F 35-39. I was not in the top half overall but even just to be in the top half of my age group was way more than I'd expected. Really, the second 5k was what my coach had been most interested to see as he figured it a good test of my current endurance.
8 happy easy miles after dark tonight, light winds, about 35. After a 10 hour work day. Tired. Bottle of beer for dessert. Zzzzzz.
@Banshee: Nice job dude!
@Xena (I've evolved it from warrior princess): Awesome job! It is always super cool to exceed expectations. All of the hard work is paying off.
@Team5: Come on people we have to get the mileage up for this week. Do it for Baboon! Everytime you feel like not running think of Baboon who would love to swap places with you. Your lucky to be able to run so put down those potatoe chips, get off the couch and get out the front door. Well make sure you put some running clothes on and for the love of running don't wear that backwards robe snuggy thing outside.
You mean chica! I'm a woman.
Xena, I like it!
Can you prove that?
It was not our week. This was not completely unexpected. In addtion to Phil, we have another warrior in need of knee repair. We also had a warrior suffer an injury related to a vasovagal episode (not me this time!) Diana, sadly, is still continuing to battle a mystery illness. Crew dawg has couple weeks of work related stuff before he can devote meaningful time to running.
Despite this, we were close. Far closer than we ought to have been. We missed 100% posting. If wed gotten it, the margin would have been ridiculously narrow.
The next few weeks will be difficult. We have warriors who must put their health first. And we always encourage this.
That does not change that I believe us to have one of the strongest teams in the competition. Do what you can while we heal. Do more if you can so long as it won't put you on our fallen warrior list as well. But know that this hiccup is temporary and that we will return stronger.
In the meantime, we had two in the top 20 runners (bruce and sara.) We had several high mileage weeks. Dan ran his first half. Joe ran a 40 mile race. I did a duathlon. Christian decimated a track team.
This year will only get better.
Definitely, we had a down week. Se la vi!
Not to be a brat, but I've been wondering forever about your spelling of c'est la vie. Intentional or not? It's driving me crazy not knowing.

Sorry that does not prove anything.
This is me on a log.
