The further north I drove the temps went from -3 to -5 to -8. I actually thought for a minute, hey, it's getting warmer.

6 miles on the treadmill & felt fine.

This is a positive development.  Great news.

'Morning, snowflakes!  I've got an hour of running to do, which I'll do in a couple of hours once the temperature warms up to 10.  It'll be fine as long as the wind stays away.  I was going to get up at 5:00 with DW and hit the gym, but I slept until 8:00 instead and then hit the gym (just got back).  Good upper body workout.  Good sleep.  Good five shot Americano sitting in front of me too.

Morning!  I have the day off, and am going with DD to look at a college.  I had thought about getting up early to run before we left, but that didn't happen.  So, I will run when we get back tonight.

Upper body weights and core done. I took the day off. As I told my boss, it was in protest. We got President's Day off the first several years I worked there. Then it got taken away because the other local hospitals don't give their employees off. However, since I work with school programs, the school staff are off, so there may be 10 people in my department  working today. I am also crossing everything for a 4 day weekend. C'mon snow day tomorrow! Sorry New Englanders, I know you have seen enough snow for several winters....

FreeSoul, not sure what the temps are where you are, but below certain temperatures, salt isn't as effective.

It's not freezing... I think, usually our area puts salt down for snow and possible ice, or they'll have the snow shovel trucks out early morning. When I headed to the gym at 4:30 AM I saw no trucks, but by the time I got home at 6 AM I saw one and my husband saw some out on the busy roads on his way to work at 8:30 AM.

I am just hoping the roads will be somewhat clear so Rocky and I can run tomorrow morning, I lost 2 days last week, I would like to stick to my plan this week.... avoiding the dreadmill.

              rest day.

Took the pups our for their quick spin.  Quincy ran .3 miles so he did well.  Hammy probably trotted out about .2 or .175.  He cut the course several times and dh didn't wear a garmin so not sure how far they actually got.  Still, they did well.

Are you closing your eyes and clicking your heels together when you say this? Hoping it's all a bad dream?

If I need to sacrifice a goat to get above freezing, I'll do it.

I have not run outside since December.  And that's not going to change today ... -30 with the wind chill under bright sunny skies.  If it weren't for this vicious wind I'd be out x-c skiing or snowshoeing but ... no, I'll save that for a better day.  So it's treadmill time once again at PF.

I just went to Kohls, it was 13 degrees out. I saw a guy running on a shaded trail. IN SHORTS.

30 degrees now. Obviously hell is freezing over because Dallas is a big hellhole.

I ran.  60 minutes, 7.7 miles, 7:50 pace.  I have a hard run tomorrow so I tried to go easy today to save my legs.  I was mostly successful except for two uphill miles.  The "feels like" temp was -7 and I overdressed.  The wind was annoying, not because of the chill but because of the resistance.

Now to clean this hellhole of a house....

This was an easy effort but certainly not a recovery effort.  My coach says these should be efforts I can maintain for a couple of hours, and that was about right today.  My marathon PR pace (7:47) has gotten to feel a lot easier.  The majority of my runs now are right around that pace or faster.  I am not shooting for paces though...I am running by effort.  I'm getting a little excited about this, but I'm still a little itchy about my lack of long runs.
