Penguin Power!

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

    Penguin Power!

      Morning Pens!

I'll probably do a couple of easy miles outside because we are having unseasonably warm/nice weather for December.  With weather like this is hard to believe that there are only two weeks until Christmas.

      Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

Hi sapf!  We are having monsoon season here.  I think it's now a state of emergency in our county because of flooding (though honestly where we are it's not as bad as in previous years/spring floods).

I will run something, mostly likely on the TM.

        PADRunner

Morning, 4 on the TM this morning just so I don't forgot how to run. Expo later today.

Lots of elites running in the Duo to Rio Relay.

Weather is still up in the air but probably cold, wet, and windy for Sunday. Mother nature hates the Dallas Marathon.

          Singer who runs a smidge

Howdy, Penguins!!  I'm on my third dose of antibiotic, so hopefully I will be feeling much better very soon.  I think I'm coughing a little less forcefully, which is all good.   And I slept all night last night, which is AWESOME!!
Maggie (cat) got her stitches out on Wednesday, and we were able to let her out of the e-collar yesterday, so she's been celebrating by scampering all over the house.  It's so nice to have our kitty back!!

sapf -- enjoy the nice weather easy miles!!

Zelanie -- enjoy the TM, and stay dry!!

PAD -- Glad you remember how to run!!  Good luck on Sunday!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

              Morning!  I have 6-7 tonight.

              sapf, enjoy the couple miles.

Z, we are having monsoon season here as well.  Stay dry!

PAD, nice 4 on the TM.  Cold is not bad.  Windy?  GRrrrr.

Hope, sorry you are so sick.  Feel better!

                Hi Pens.

                I have an 8 mile tempo run scheduled for later. 1 easy + 6 @ 7:06 + 1 easy.  We'll see how it goes.

                Have a nice weekend.

                  Return To Racing

12 for us.  Dressed light and had a chilly start and we thought about postponing the LR until tomorrow, but after a mile we decided to give it a go.  Took it pretty slow today with 1 mile walks.  Now time for the Friday matinee and then happy hour.

                    Have a great weekend !!!

Jill - I hope your warm weather run went well.  We've got the same weather here.  Nice.

Z - I've seen video on the news of your flooding.  Enjoy your TM run.

PAD - I hope the Expo was a good one, but not so big you wore yourself out.  The only expos I've been to were tiny, so not an issue.  I hope your forecast improves for Sunday.

HopesMom - I hope the antibiotics and some good sleep take care of your congestion.  Have a restful weekend.

                      D - I hope your 6 go well later.

Jack - that's a long fast tempo run.  I hope it went well.

Jerry - good job on the long run today. What movie did you watch?

I ran 9 miles at slightly faster than marathon pace.  I kept trying to rein it in, but ended up just a little fast (9:32 average instead of 9:45). It will make tomorrow's long run a bit slower.  Fortunately, this is a cutback week so my LR won't be that long.

Ginny, we saw Spotlight.  Definitely a Best Picture nominee.
