Smaller By The Day
The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

I just realized this weekend that I've never had a torta. They look delicious. I'm going to have to try one sometime.
Cool thing happened yesterday. I saw that my tattoo artist had changed his cover photo on facebook. It's my tattoo! How cool is that? I actually have the original drawing on my wall in the office.
Anyway, I got outside for a run yesterday. My easy pace seemed about right, compared to the treadmill. The only downside (besides the flooded streets) was that my legs felt heavy and inflexible. My stride just felt short, and my legs tight and heavy. I think more outdoor miles, some stretching and weight loss will put me right back in the game. Time will tell.
Morning all, not posting much but still lurking about.
Trying to stay off my knee as much as possible. 11 bike Sunday, Bootcamp Monday and probably some weights tonight.
I've got a 5k at the end of the month so I'll try running about a week before to see how it feels.
Barking Mad To Run
Temp in San Antonio today will be VERY sunny and 82 degrees. 3- 4 miles outside after work today to enjoy all that sunshine! Temp in San Antonio today will be VERY sunny and 82 degrees. 3- 4 miles outside after work today to enjoy all that sunshine! Gee, I haven't even noticed the time change all that much. Maybe that's what happens when you get old...your body 'settles'...
I don't even know what a torta is, Awood, I had to look it up, I thought maybe it was like something Damaris files in court, lol. Congrats on getting outside to run again. You'll get your 'land legs' back in no time.
Sorry the knee is still bothering you, PAD. Sounds like you are still being very active though, in spite of it, so good for you. Hope the knee heals quickly!

Scotty - I hear that the Republicans want to change tortas. They were discussing torta reform in 2008.

Morning! Either a short recovery run or a bike ride.
It depends on where you are to determine what torta means as it has different meanings depending on the Hispanic nationality. But thanks for making me hungry!
Damaris
You're very welcome.
Return To Racing
'Morning. URD, still hurting from yesterday's DNF run. Kind of in that bony part just below and outside knee with pain radiating down. Can hardly walk. It will be a couch day with the ice bag. I'll have to check RWOL to see what this is. :-(
Put your feet up Jerry. Then, do your research.
Ouch. Hope you can find what it is and can fix it.
Morning! I am in favor of all things vegetarian which are called a torta.
"MLR" of 8 for me today- nice!
Awood- Maybe it was just a bad race more than an overall read on your fitness?
PAD- bummer about the knee still being cranky!
Scotty- Sounds like great weather! Although I have to admit that I was really happy about the mid-40s and dry yesterday compared to 60 and just-about-to-rain humid which is what I've been running in the last week or so.
Jerry- Hopefully it's just something little that will get better with rest? Does it sound like this? That is what I had, but caused by my kneecap slipping to the outside.
Meat tortas!
Singer who runs a smidge
Morning, Penguins!! I didn't make it out for a walk yesterday -- work kept me in the building right up until time to go. Maybe today .... But there are a couple of brave flowers poking up in our front yard, so spring must be coming!! My snow peas haven't sprouted, though, I might have to replant this weekend.Awood -- some days are definitely like that!! Hoping the stretching and outdoor miles help!!PAD -- sounds like you're doing a lot on your knee even if you're not running!! Be careful ...scotty -- have fun in the sun!!Docket -- have fun, whichever you decide!!Jerryb -- ouch, sorry you're hurting!!Zelanie -- have a good MLR!!
When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run. The only thing that matters is how we have loved.
Spring? Where?

Hi Pens...
Quick check in for me. No running today. I am a little less sore than yesterday, but DDs are telling me I am walking "like an old man." I hope to get out there tomorrow or Thursday for a VERY easy run to see how it feels. Even if you run it "easy," a marathon is still 26.2 miles and they hurt. Thanks for reading my RR.
Have a good day.
