So in thinking about how to split the difference between the Hansons 12/70 (good mileage but not enough quality) and 16/80 (too much of everything), I sort of re-discovered Pfitz. The 18/70 looks like a good balance, could make sense. And races are included in the plan (not necessary timing/distance I was looking at, but still.) I'd be a week and a half late getting started, but I suppose I could jump in (or wait & do the 12/70). So maybe I'll do that. Maybe.
I have looked at that plan and if I remember correctly it has mid-week 15 mile easy runs?
It is a 5k. I don't blow up in the race, but I am stuck in my training because of lack of discipline. I am probably in 21:45 shape for a 5k. That means my easy miles should be around 8:15-8:30 and tempo runs in the 7:15-7:25 pace. Basically, every mile I run is close to tempo speed. No way I can increase mileage when running so fast.
I just ran 8 easy miles at an 8:49 avg pace.
Last week I ran a 5k in 20:39
2 months ago I ran a marathon at a 7:30 pace
My half marathon PR is 7:03 pace
5 x 1600 at 5k pace, 8 x 1 mile at 10k pace and 20 x 400 at mile pace
Umm, no.
I ran 4 miles at a snails pace. . That was after working 29 hours the last two days. Pardon me while I go and zzzzzzzzzz.
PRs:
5k - 20:51 - 9/5/15
10k - 47:00 - 5/25/15
15k - 1:10:19 - 11/21/15
13.1 - 1:42:25- 4/25/15
26.2 - TBD (someday)
Two days after the 5x1600 is 16 miles with 10 at MP. So, there's that.
As LRB said, if I were into stringing 80 miles/week shape, maybe this would make sense. But in the shape I'm in, to be able to pull off the Thursday workout 2 days after, and go on week after week (I have felt the Hansons plan), I would not run the 1600s at 5K speed, but at Daniels' T speed-ish.
I am not sure whether you are pulling these out of your ass as examples of ridiculous workouts that no one could ever actually do, or if they are real things. If the latter, *puke*.
I don't think it really matters.
I was able to figure out the distance I ran Monday during my run this morning. Turns out it was much further than I intended, but it's not the end of the world.

Okay I'm lost. lol Was it my end of the world comment?
I wasn't worse off so I suppose it's good. It was more surprising than anything.
Yup. Sort of why I never picked it to begin with. Basically through the meat of the plan, a 14 or 15 mile MLR every Wednesday. That would quickly turn from being my favorite day of the week to least favorite. But no prob, I guess instead of getting up at 4:45 AM like I do now, I would just get up at 4. Theoretically should be even earlier, but prefer not to think about that right now. It was not too long ago I refused to consider getting up at a time starting with a number less than 5, but now it is routine. Cannot even imagine a number less than 4. (Well I do all the time, but not intentionally.)

Farther. (Physical distance, not metaphorical.)
Exactly. You see how actually knowing what you're doing while you're doing it just served as a limitation??
Oh. I thought they both meant at a greater distance and were interchangeable based on preference, like gray and grey or while and whilst. I guess you learn something new every day.
Yes, I probably could have run 8 miles pain free if I wasn't aware of the distance. Tell me the distance though and my leg would fall off. lol

Late to the party again, I am sure some are in bed.
10.2 miles tonight, I am currently like 8 miles ahead of my pace bunny.

PRs
5k - 24:15 (7:49 min/mile pace)
10k - 51:47 (8:16 min/mile pace)
15k -1:18:09 (8:24 min/mile pace)
13.1 - 1:53:12 (8:39 min/mile pace)
26:2 - 4:14:55 (9:44 min/mile)
Of course bluerun is correct. FTR however that is more of a US English distinction; in the UK you would use further in all cases.
Also, grey and whilst are primarily UK English spelling/usage.

Yes,
I know that it would probably help me to run slower, but I don't have the confidence in myself to do it.
