On my list of "things I care about", Olympic opening ceremony uniforms checks in around 1,389.  The opening ceremony itself does slightly better at 1,274.  Then again, I'm not embarrassed to wear running shirts with big gnarly nip stains from using Vaseline.

        Short term goal: 17:59 5K

        Mid term goal:  2:54:59 marathon

Long term goal: To say I've been a runner half my life.  (I started running at age 45).

All they need are baseball caps, white athletic shoes, and big prosthetic beer bellies to be the perfect American tourists.

I actually enjoy the opening ceremonies. I like seeing all the countries, noting how many athletes they are sending, and seeing whom they have chosen to carry the flag. And some of them have pretty interesting outfits.

I thought the American uniforms were a joke the first time I saw them.

Let me rephrase that: The American uniforms ARE a joke.

20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.

Agreed. I love watching the Olympics, but you couldn't pay me to watch the opening or closing ceremonies, no matter what the uniforms looked like. I can't wait for the curling events. I'm strangely fascinated by that odd sport.
