Stupid Uphill / Downhill RR (Read 77 times)

agree about effort versus pre-determined pace. i naiively thought i could go up at a 10 minute pace...very funny. shows there is still a lot to learn.

I recently ran a flat 5K just because I wanted to see what I could do but I am more and more selecting courses like this where you have to think about effort much more than pace.  I like the smaller races anyway.  Several years ago, I ran something with a very similar profile along a National Forest Road in Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, NC.  As I recall, I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Congrats on a fun event.

Holy crap. That is a scary race.  I can't imagine going straight up for 6.5 miles and then coming right back down again.  My legs would be toast.  Congrats on a strong effort.

            Go figure

Phew, what a beast!  I applaud you for challenging yourself to run a course where you just had to rely on racing and running the best time possible for that course.  I know that I have way too much of the "time trial" mentality and should embrace challenges like this more often.  Your pace difference between the two halves definitely tell the story of how big that hill was.  I love the logo...great stuff!

                Ric - just wow.

Great job on a very unconventional route.

Kudos to you for tackling that challenge and living to tell the tale!
