I spent the whole afternoon in high heels, walking on South Beach, and drinking sangria. And then, I run one of my fastest runs in a while. Conclusion: I need sangria. I tripped at Mile 8 and almost fell on my face. Unfortunately, I did a split stance and my knee feels a little banged up. We'll see during tomorrow's LR. Now off to get a martini...I mean hydrate.

Tom, you looked strong at mm 4.4 heading down and still strong near South Chick Creek heading back upstream. I've had some days like that lately too.........in the same section. I knew I was struggling on the day I stopped to stretch a little and a ranger offered me a ride in the golf cart. 7 for me today too.

I was pretty strong at first, just kicking into high gear. But I hit the wall. The second time you'd seen me, I had already taken both walk breaks. I really was feeling it by that time, though the 1/4 mile or so of walking each time helped a lot.
I think that I was somewhat dehydrated, even if I didn't feel the thirst. The reason I say that is that I had a good pull on the Chattanooga Whiskey last night and while I didn't really feel thirsty during the run (even though I stopped 3 times to drink), I was really drinking down the water after I got home.
Oh well, I feel fine now. Legs are good. I had some good barbecue, chicken, and all kinds of different dishes and saw some excellent backyard fireworks. Just got home and I'm unwinding for bed.
