Squidward Bike Rider

We have a 2007 Jeep Commander that gets 18 MPG tops on the highway.  Ours has the 4.7L V8 and the optional engine was the 3.7L V6.  You would think the V6 gets better gas mileage but that would be wrong.  That being said, glad we have the V8 so it has enough ass to get out of the way.

Our motorhome has the Ford V10 and gets less than 8 MPG which is a major kick in the Nixon when its time to fill up the 55 gallon tank.  BUT its still cheaper than airfare for 4 and I don't have to worry about sleeping in someone else's dirt or funk.

I always wondered how much it cost to fill up one of those.  And I would love to get one someday if I could ever afford it.

    Drink up moho's!!

Well its got the aerodynamics of a brick and a big motor.  7.5 - 8 MPG when running 70 MPH on the highway.  Doesn't seem to change if we are running solo or towing the Jeep behind it.  We could likely increase that a bit by slowing down to 65 MPH.

But damn is going camping in it fun!!!

You should "chip" it and install a cold air intake. That's what I did to our Excursion (Triton V10) and now we're running at the very worst 11.5 MPG.

All to easy to do BTW.

        Dad on the run.

That sounds better, wish I filled up every 2 or 3 weeks... that would be nice. I drive 110-120 miles a day

Mine had great mileage per gallon then but they have made better.  I will be switching this Camry Hybrid when the lease is up ans returning to lexus.  Remember my gas is at around $3.50 And that is low.  I have not seen $3.21 in 8 years.  At $3.21, I would fill it with less $40.

I travel around 300 miles a week and I fill it up every 2-3 weeks so my first estimate was low.

Cecil, you could get here for less than that (the driving part anyway). Gasoline around here (near Sarasota) is down to $3.21 in places.  So... do we see you for Gasparilla 15k in February?

I filled up yesterday.  Couldn't tell you how much per gallon or the total cost of the fill up.  I do swipe my rewards card every time and have about $50 in store credit built up on that thing.  Cool  That could buy a lot of slurpees and nachos with liquid cheese!

Liquid cheese is actually an entree in my household.  The chips are the side!

It costs me about $60 to fill up my Wrangler. I can fill up my Hyundai with about $40 and get 150-200 more miles per tank. I still prefer to drive the Wrangler though!

My plug-in car averages about 250 MPG. It only has an 8 gallon tank and I fill it up about every third month.

My Altima has a 20 gallon tank and I can usually go about 3 weeks between fill ups. It's a 6 speed manual and I get about 30mpg. On long trips I can get over 600 miles out of that huge tank.

DH just bought a Fiesta as his commuter vehicle. It has a 12 gallon tank. He just drove to ATL and averaged 41mpg. It's been getting 37 mpg in town.

Gas is between 3.15-3.25 a gallon for regular right now.

Our grocery store has a set up where for every $100 you spend, you get $0.10/gallon off.  Usually, I wait until we have about $0.30 or $0.40 off, and then I fill that 20-gallon gas guzzler of mine.

I have considered that but the return on investment is pretty low plus I have a good 6,000 lbs on you as well  Physics says my gains would be fairly small.

jay, have an outback now and it's great...hybrid would be a real plus!

I would love to see Subaru make a hybrid Outback or Forester.  Those are the top two choices on my short list of next vehicle.

My front-wheel drive Grand Prix will suffice for now, but a tiny hybrid would never make it up here in the winter.
