Do You See Purple Penguins on Thursday? (Read 23 times)

Barking Mad To Run

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Barking Mad To Run

Run/Walk on the San Antonio Riverwalk after work yesterday.  Sunny, with a bit of cloud cover and a nice breeze, both of which were appreciated in the 84 degree temp.   Ended up with 4.5 miles done, a bit longer than I'd planned for my 'easy' outing, with the original plan to do just 3 miles; but I was feeling good so I just kept going for a bit more.   Today after work, run/walk at Fort Sam Houston, which I will ensure  IS nice-and-easy by doing my "Dog Alley" route, which has me stopping several times along the way to give my canine pals some treats.

Morning. cool front came through overnight so it was a little chilly (50) this morning. Not too bad but the 20mph wind was a bitch.

3 miles this morning maybe another group workout tonight.

            Good morning Penguins!

            Nice running, Damaris!

            Scotty, have a nice run.

PAD, don't overdo it on the taper.

I have to meet the carpet guys at my new house, and then I'm going to meet a friend for an easy 6 miles.

              Return To Racing

                Good Morning Pens !!!

Free day at work with boss at training.  Gym for me this afternoon and then DW will want to do a short run, possibly outside.

                Jack K.

                  Hi Pens.

No running for me. None all week. DD1 has a track meet today and she is running the 800. She has had some time off because of a bad case poison oak so she doesn't feel ready to run the 3200.  They are on spring break next week so DW and her are going on a road trip to visit four or five colleges/universities where she has been accepted. My break is the week after Easter so I don't get to go. Sad Dang, I like road trips.

                  See ya.

Bummer, Jack!  I can relate.  I'm on spring break this week (from after-school program).  My son is on spring break next week, and my daughter's spring break is the week after that!

                    From the Internet.

Hi pens. 9.1 miles with 2x2 miles at GHMP this morning, 8:20 average for the first 2 and 8:19 for the second 2. How I'm ever going to hold 8:23 for an entire 13.1 is completely beyond me - training for long races is hard! D:

You'd think that they'd coordinate breaks =/  I'm on break April 3-10.  All NYC public schools at least have a uniform break.  The privates are a bit different, but I tell my private school kids up front that I take all of the public school breaks but will skype if necessary.

Scotty - enjoy your dog alley run this afternoon.

PAD - wind does turn a nice run into a hard one.  I hope you get your double later.

                          D - that's a hard interval workout.  Good job.

Brilliant - have fun with your easy six.

sapf - good luck on your rainy run.

Jerry - I hope you get an outdoor run.

Jack - No running because you're busy or because you're hurting?  I hope tomorrow is better.  Maybe you can use the time that they are gone to focus on your running.

Lauren - you are fast and a strong runner.  You'll do it.

It's a beautiful spring day here.  It's supposed to get up to 70, with thunderstorms late this afternoon.  I've talked Jim into going to the woods for a short hike after lunch.  I'll run my five when we get home.

                          Barking Mad To Run

PAD, your wind up there has moved down here.  I just went for a short walk around the campus and the darn wind is blowing about 20 mph.  Gonna be fun running in that after work today.  At least the temp will be about 67 degrees today...not as warm as yesterday's 84, but that's okay, 67 is still good for me.  Since I will be in the housing area on Fort Sam, hopefully the houses and trees will give me a bit of a windbreak from that dang wind.

Wow, Damaris, 10 miles done so early for you, impressive!  How did your meeting with those 'Washington people' go?

hope your 6 miles went well, Brilliant.   Good luck with the carpet.   San Antonio schools are good with Spring Break time...they all close down the same week here, high schools, middle schools, universities, colleges, all of them, so anyone who wants to do family stuff that week is good to go.  Around here, Spring Break is about the 2nd week of March.

The temp is warm enough now, Jerry, for you and DW to run outside?  Yay!

Sorry about no running all week, Jack.   Good luck to your daughter!

Good luck with the training and pace holding, Lauren!

Hope the thunderstorms held off for your hike and 5 miles, Ginny.

It went well.  I don't have any issues.  Someone else might.  but it was stressful.

                              Return To Racing

Pretty nice out, but still in long sleeves/pants, hat and gloves.  5 easy and felt good the whole run. Need a LR with the SLC HM, 3 weeks away.

Didn't think you contributed to a hostile work environment, DR.
