I recently learned that "everyone" rotates shoes except (apparently) me. I'm going to start doing so b/c I guess it extends the useful life of your shoes and so maybe I won't go through them as quickly as I do. How many pairs are in your rotation?

The life of mine are extended by rotating the shoes indeed. I used to run in one pair like you, for close to 5-6 years. I had to retire theme earlier than I do now.
And you know how many I have in rotation....

I thought you guys just ran in a bunch b/c you like cute shoes. I didn't realize there was a practical value to doing so either. I am going to start rotating now. And, yes, your figure is insane.
Team TJ
I have a 3 pair rotation currently. It would be 4 had Angie not put her foot down to buying another pair...
Running for TJ because he can't.

Running is dumb.
It's not so much the life of the shoe that motivates me to rotate, but how they feel.
Of the three that I use, each one seems to work muscles just slightly differently, so I can change up and be more comfortable. One pair is mainly for short races and feels quick but less supportive. My workhorse Elixirs are firm, responsive, and durable. The final pair is cushy and favored for really long runs, but feels slower than the others.
I have two pairs I'm rotating, but it is more out of accident than intent. The only trail shoes i could find in size 14 2E were a pair of Adrenaline ASR's. My road shoes are Asics Nimbus. Due to the arch / ankle injuries early and late last summer I ended up using the ASR's on the road. Both pairs work very well with my new orthotics, although the ASR's have a lot of stability. They definitely work the lower leg muscles differently.
I have just over 200 miles on the Nimbus', so I'm thinking of getting a pair of Ghosts or 1080's before long to rotate on the road.
Wickedly Average
5 road, 1 trail. Although I would only have 3 or 4 but the oldest pair is still hanging in there. I do limit the two oldest to shorter runs though.
I just bought the trail shoes yesterday, but I can't properly include them in the rotation since my software only accepts 5 pairs. I really need to wear out pairs 1 and 2.

I rotate 2 identical pairs of shoes, one half used & the other new, that way when one is half worn out, the cycle starts again(I have no basis for why I do this, other than my pocket book likes it better!) but then I also have 1 pair of bad weather shoes that I don't rotate in the normal rotation, I just replace them as they wear out. Same manufacturer as my usual ones, but different model with more tread and thicker uppers.
I get about 500 miles out of a pair of regular rotational shoes. Once a year replacement on the "bad weather" ones.

The road shoes are new, right?
Misty
I have 4 pairs in rotation.
Bless your heart.
i have 3 pairs in rotation right now - all the same model and color (why fix it if it's not broken?). i just started rotating and i'm already noting the benefits of doing this, even with the same shoe. .
