Yeah, she's a little reckless. Hopefully she reigns it in and can hold on to challenge.
She's done everything except scream from the mountaintop that she wants to win it this year. Perhaps this is her new strategy instead of waiting on the front of the pack to surge after mile 20.
Now Hall and Meb are leading. About 20 in the lead pack.

Former Bad Ass
Meb and Ryan leading the men's pack, 4:49 first mile.
While Meb can hold on, every time Ryan Hall does this, it has not turned out well.

Uffda
Yeah, she said she got beat up on the downhills last year. Maybe use her speed early on and try to break people? Not a bad strategy. It's something different for sure.

Shalane leading, on course record by 2 minutes. I wish her good luck with that tactic.
Jay716 through 10K in 40:28
Fuzzy through 10K in 40:38
Bott and Meb have broken away from the pack, but it's early.
Smaller By The Day
Not sure how to track him, but I'm hoping Andrew Williams of Middlebury, IN can drop a couple more minutes this year.

Shalane still leading, she's on that killer downhill coming out of Wellesley. My quads hurt just watching that.
Wave 3 is off.
I got the first texts:
Greg and Jay at the 10K mark. Fuzzy too.
Local guy is on pace for 2:24! That is in line with last year.
Women have climbed the interstate hill, made the right hand turn at the firehouse and heading into the Newton hills.
Meb and Bott have a 40 sec. lead on the field.
Anyone who remembers DonS from RWOL Marathoners Forum - he's on a 2:51 pace.
