I think one of my biggest pet peeves during races is when people say "you're almost there" or "you've got this!" when there is still quite a ways to go. Sure, going from 26 to 32 miles may not seem like much (what's another 6 miles!) but on a tough trail with tired legs, that might mean 1.5+ hrs! And that's a lot! So until I see that finish line in sight, or I hear those finish line cowbells, don't tell me I'm almost there!
Tammy - that's for sure. It never, never fails, either. I used to say back. "uhm, could you say i look great too?" or, "thanks. I kind of feel terrible." Wish I would've had Steve's red lips to put on.
"Enjoy yourself. Your younger days never come again." 100yo T. Igarashi to me in geta at top of Mt. Fuji (8/2/87)
