    Mornin' everyone.

Gotta watch out for those "Yardsaleians" everywhere, at any time of the year, TomW. They can be relentless when hunting down bargains! Glad you survived...

Dave - a garage sale obstacle course as part of a 5K? Well, that's different...

Tramps - good on you for taking advantage of some good weather to "jump in" to a PR! Soft or hard, a PR is a PR - nice running!

Excellent shot of Tag! 3 paws up, one paw down. Is he smiling for the camera??

Ribs - I did a show at McCormick in Chicago once, and didn't like it - too cold and hard a place. On the other hand, racewalking along the lake was great.

Wildchild, to say that you've accomplished a lot with your running in the last year would be a gross understatement. Amazing...

Sounds like a gorgeous 'dome' run yesterday, Mariposai, to be followed by a fun day.

MS, nothing like a Pank bike and a son who can coach to make you a fearsome trail rider. Gotta watch the language on the trail though Big grin

Congrats on DS's HS graduation! Bummer about the shin splints.

Henrun, sounds like you and Marj made the best of a beautiful Boston day.

Holly, it seems you have the right touch to bring DD and DS along with their golf games. It is great that DS comes to it naturally, and is blossoming under your guidance. I hope to see photos of your bikes at the Miamisburg Tri - you'll certainly be getting some attention if you carry on with your ideas.

Stumpy, sorry about your delayed flight, but I'm glad you got home safely, and got in a nice run after some sleep.

On our flight up from FL on Sunday night, we were on the right side of the plane. At one point, I looked out the window, and there was the near-full moon, seemingly filling about half the window, staring back at me out of the blackness. It stayed with us for quite a while, and it was a treat to see it like that.

I "rested" yesterday by starting to stain the siding on the back of the house (got a little more than half done) and mowing the lawn. I was just as tired last night as I had been at the trade conf. earlier in the weekend. I was up at the usual time this morning, and out the door by 4:15. It was 43F and clear with about a 5/8 moon still hanging high in the sky. Off to the east, the morning orange glow was rising up from a calm ocean. It's that time of the year when I get to do almost all of each morning's workouts in some daylight, and it sure is a nice after many months of darkness and just shades of black and grey. I really enjoyed being able to see all the colorful flowers in bloom, the trees (some of which are still budding), and all the lawns and shrubs with fresh coats of green.

    Enjoy your day!

    Jay

Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.

Good Morning Jay and all to follow! I love reading your summaries and feel so caught up now. What a great escort home from FL by La Luna.

I tried to squeeze as much out of yesterday's picture perfect weather as possible (after completing the weekend Ark building!). I ran 12 miles at the reservoir with Iron J, went to a local parade and saluted veterans and remembered those who sacrificed it all, yanked weeds and raked mulch, went on a long walk with Hudson and was snoring at 9:30. Bliss!  This morning I ran to CrossFit---did the CF workout---ran home (run total 5.8 miles) and now I may need to sleep again. yowsa....

Local area travel this week to finish up the busiest work month I've had in probably two years. All good!

      Tramps

Hi folks.  Feels like Monday, doesn't it?

Lots of busy people over the weekend.  Same here, getting some little projects done.

An easy 5.2 miles to stretch the legs out.

        Be safe. Be kind.

        Mariposai

Lovely description on La Luna, Jay!

Karin, I smile every time I see you post your runs. Totally recovered from your injury, right?

BTW, where is OrangeMat? I thought of her today as I was doing some stretches on my blue yoga mat.

My three day weekend was too short. I should take three day weekends more often to get things done around the house. I am pleased with the progress in the rock garden, but I still have about two days work of playing with the rocks to call the product finished.

Taper week for me. Marathon in on Sunday. It is good that this is taper week since I have a rather full week. Traveling this afternoon to Olympia after teaching a 4 hour mandatory orientation this morning. Meeting all day in my agency's headquarters and then drive back 6 hours tomorrow night. Yeah...it is going to be a fun week Smile.

              Trails are hard!

I think OM is slumming in Hawaii this week.

Since we had some amazing ultra runners around here, http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/superman/2013/05/ultramarathon_runner_scott_jurek_extreme_athletes_determination_pain_and.single.html#pagebreak_anchor_2

                this might interest you.

Need a fast half for late fall.  Then I need to actually train for it.

                TammyinGP

Labduck lives in the PDX area, Ribs. And winejunky is not too far south of that. I'm 4 hrs south of PDX.

Back to work after 4 days off. But only working 3 days this week, then off for a mom-son weekend in Eugene to watch the PreClassic. And he wants to run Pre's Trail so we'll squeeze that in too. Hope he doesn't mind running slower with me. Don't think I'll be cranking off any 6 min miles.

                  Tammy

Jay - thanks for catching us up!!

I had a beautiful delivery early yesterday morning to start my 3rd day and then it was so unusually quiet at work I never had another patient after I brought her to post-partum .....was a nice change, but made for a long day and a bit too much grazing at the sweets table!!  Despite that, my weigh in this morning was a pleasant surprise and I followed that with a strong 10.2 mile run - 2 loops around a local lake!!

Love these beautiful spring days!!   Happy Tuesday!!

                    denise

coastwalker if you need more rest how about coming to my place and power washing the deck?  Big grin

CNYrunner and to think you were recently in a moon boot!  Shocked

Tramps only here would 5.2 miles be just "stretch the legs out."  Among the general public it is:  Holy smokes 5.2 miles!  How do you run that far!?

Mariposai when playing with the rocks I hear it is a good idea not to aim them towards the windows of the house.  Just heard that, not sure where.

Spareribs my last trip to Portland was really memorable.  I hope you get a chance to head off and do some wine tasting.  When I did that I discovered Ponzi before it was a big (and now expensive) deal.

tomwhite good luck with the doc I hope he has a brilliant idea for you.

TammyinGP what you cannot pull off 6 minutes miles!  Why I thought everybody could.  Joking  I doubt I could do a one and done these days.

deez4boyz well if you are going to burn 1,000+ calories running you can graze on a few sweets!

stumpy77 that is why I love flying so much!  Delays with wonderful hours to ponder the airport or better yet the tarmac!  My favorite way to wile away the hours!  Black eye

Holly S. see note to coastwalker above!  Sounds like a nice relaxing day off from working out.  Well not really . . .

henrun not to worry the weather looks like it is heading back towards miserable starting this evening.  All I can say is nature better put the kibosh on this lousy weather and soon.  Angry

Mustang Sally congratulations to your DS.  Enjoy the graduation festivities.

wildchild pretty impressive journey!  I am hoping to do my 10th marathon this fall and I started way before you did!

SteveP Tag should be in a dog food commercial!  Great shot of him.

Dave59 lining up for a garage sale that has yet to start is what happens when you have been watching too many garage sale hunter reality shows.

I ran 8 miles of Zombiesleks this morning.  Since I manged to avoid getting bit the whole time my avatar is really happy to not be a zombie and decided to toss himself a party!  All the other avatars are invited!  Clown  My routine involves me running to my front door before shutting off my Garmin (to stop myself from engaging in run shortening creep).  I get to the door and hit the off button on my Garmin.  Next I hit the code on my cell phone to get to the main screen to shut off the Zombies Run app.  As I am hitting the code what do I hear over my earphones, "Warning zombies 100 meters."  My first thought was, "Zombies?  Hey, I am home there are no zombies at home!"  So I shut the app off and somehow the zombies just disappeared!

Tammy, congrats to your son on his new PR and school record.  tet and Franc, I am in awe of the miles you put in.  Tramps, great 10K with 1st in AG and PR.

Nice long runs for evan, mari, CNY, and deez.

This morning, it was about 50° and there was a light wind.  I got in 8 miles at an 11:17 pace.

A good day and good runs for all.

6.3 miles today at 8:27 avg pace. A very steady state run with all the miles being very close to that average. Kinda fun whe that happens. Worked more on my garden afterwards. I think doing it a little bit at a time is better than the "marathon" gardening sessions I used to do a few years ago. I get the garden done and can still stand upright and walk afterwards! Older and wiser, right?

                              Marathon Maniac #957

Erika - that sounds too smart for me....Smile

6 miles for me on Tuesday morning in 69 degrees.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
