8 easy H&H miles today , sweaty
Dave, congrats on your 5K PR. Holly, way to go in your 50K in the heat (it must have been the good fueling the evening before). evan and mari sure did well in their hot marathon with hot performances - evan with a PR and 1st in AG and mari 2nd best marathon and 2nd in AG. Dove, good job in your 50K being 3rd Master and 6th woman. TomW, you've come a long ways, kept your good disposition, and kept us entertained. Keep up the good work. DrRobin, nice half with preparation the evening before like holly's.
Nice long runs for breger, hopeful, wild, and holly (the day after an ultra?).
Saturday, my daughter ran a half in Chicago that was called on account of heat and humidity. She and a friend struggled to the end to say they finished. Finally, our garden dried up a bit and I tilled it so that my wife could plant about 2/3 of it (It's about 50' by 50'). I'll hit the rest (the soggiest part) with the tiller again in a few minutes and we'll try to plant the rest tomorrow.
This morning, it was in the high 50s and almost calm. I got in 5 miles in just over 50 minutes for a 10:01 pace.
A good day and good runs for all.

A bit surprised too to read that 11-miler following a 50K. That earns a nap and a hugh dinner I think.
It was very slow and gentle (12:00) and my legs actually felt much looser afterward. Another event that I am fortunate enough to have finished uninjured. Life is good.
Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Congratulations to our racers from 5k to full marathon! 50k

Trails are hard!
There is also apparently a 100K somewhere this weekend, too. Methinks there's a RR to read Great racing, folks.
Spent the day on Friday voluteering at the NH Special Olympics as our company's first community service project. I had a ball working as an escort to take the atheletes out to the track fro thier events and then to the awards after. It would be awful hard to not be impressed with the effort that all of them make to just make it to the start. Makes my little aches and pains and lack of motivation seem pretty paltry, I'll tell you.
For the fun part of the weekend, I spent both days of the nicest weekend at a electrical code review course. Hour drive each way and then 8 hours of riviting material. Not much chance to run. Back to work tomorrow. I'm excited.
Need a fast half for late fall. Then I need to actually train for it.

Congratulations to all of you who raced this weekend! Fantastic job--all of you!
For me it was a last place finish in the beer olympics and I did way too much beer olympying...I'm sunburned...and I'm worn out. I did manage to get through my soccer practice, though, which I am going to use for my run for the day.
Again--congratulations! There really were some great efforts and fantastic results, this weekend!
Wasn't criticizing. I was amazed. And golf the night before. Big, long, endurance runs are the base for everything else. If you can do this more power to you. I wish I could. Spareribs
OK, I'm so inspired by Holly and the Newport marathon stars of yesterday, that I got myself out for 3.1 miles. That is the exact distance from my front door to our news paper box and back. A nice out and back around the beautiful lake.
Still impressive Holly! and Woods lady, nice to see you. How are things with Econo and Ben?
That's the attitude! Seriously, congratulations on all your hard work the last couple years. That's really inspirational stuff...all done while keeping your priceless sense of humor. Thanks.
I bout did back flips when you wandered over here from KR.
