    Mornin' kids,

Jlynne, slowing down in heat and humidity sounds smart to me. I'm glad DH still loves you after the round of golf!

Aamos, on the other hand, just seems to keep cranking out the miles, no matter what the weather. Just like Wild Child keeps craning them out, no matter what the distance. It seems you did a terrific job, and learned some things on your first pacing gig, WC.

Those H&CRMs can be a challenge, eh, TomWhite?

Clearing culverts doesn't sound like much fun, Evanflein, even if it may be good cross training.

It is up to each individual to decide if they are comfortable playing multiple job offers off each other. If you do it, you also must be prepared for at least one of the offers to be pulled off the table. But, as Twocat say, tough negotiating can have significant rewards. Do what you feel comfortable with, HermosaBoy, and best of luck with wherever you wind up.

Glad to see Enke in blueberry pie heaven!

    Great and fun photos, Steve!

I had two interesting meetings yesterday, and two more coming today. At one, a local utility is going to try to convince us to grant them an easement to run electric lines across conservation land. State law does not give us the authority to grant such easements (which is fine with me), so it'll be interesting to see what they present.

4.5 semi-tempo RW miles in the 4am darkness this morning, and in 67 very muggy temps.

    Have a greta Tuesday!

    Jay

Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.

      Hiya!

No, no, I am seriously tapering.  Just 5 this am, and no rain!  We've had 7-9 inches locally in the past few days.  Closest we come to snow days; lucky we were able to get in the race and long runs this weekend.

Stumps, when are you starting your hill training for Somerville?

      grins,

      A

      Rise up this mornin',
      Smile with the risin' sun,
      Three little birds
      Pitch by my doorstep
      Singin' sweet songs
      Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', ("This is my message to you-ou-ou: ")

Singin': "Don't worry 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "Don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right! "

        Trails are hard!

Shane, we hardly knew ye.  At least the last couple of years

I have a time trial on 8/13 to see if it's helped yet.  Tough part will be maintaining all winter until Patriot's Day.

FIL took five of us to one of the top rated restaurants in Portland, ME last night. (Fore Street) I won't say it was THE best meal I've ever had, but certainly up there.  Very glad that I wasn't paying.   I didn't take any food porn pictures like HB (which was also a very impressive spread), but stole this off DD's FB page.  Day boat scallops with risotto and haricot verts. (at that price, they're much fancier than green beans).

Oh, and no running for me this morning.  I think that's why most of us ar here.

Need a fast half for late fall.  Then I need to actually train for it.

Leslie, I want you to know I am thinking of you and your dad.  There is a reason why people often say that it's a gift for a man to have a daughter, because later in life it will be the daughter who looks after him.  All the best.

8 Sunday, 3.1 yesterday and the same today.  Lots of walk breaks.  I've had enough.  I scheduled an appointment with the cardiologist tomorrow morning for lipid panel, focusing on my LDL, and whatever sound number it turns out to be, I'm telling them that I am not taking a statin for at least 30 days, then testing the blood again. I want to have an accurate measure of what the statins really do for me, vis a vis the quality of my life.

A couple of weeks ago I posted on FB a question about red yeast rice, asking if anyone had had any experience with it replacing statins, and all I got were b.s. answers, nothing empirical, no measurement.  I need to figure this out.  I've solved the protein issue so I'm good there with the diet but I'm still feeling this muscle fatigue and soreness.  People ask me what it feels like.  Here it is:  My every day run feels like the run I used to do the day after a marathon.  That is no fun at all.

Victorino, huh Aamos?  What's your thinking?  Spareribs

            Carolyn

Ribs,  my DH also had trouble with statins causing muscle wasting, and  he stopped taking them.  If you google it, you'll find all kinds of info that show how harmful statins can be.  Good luck.

I ran 10 miles yesterday in a new (for me) open space park!  I love running on new trails!

Amy, nice earworm!  That's such a cheerful song!

I hammered down the trail, passing rocks and trees like they were standing still.

Lunch for me today is leftover sauteed chicken breasts with pesto cream sauce (made from my garden basil) and garden tomatoes with rice vinegar.  I love eating from my garden!  Although when I was weeding on Sunday I was questioning my efforts.

5.25 miles for me today in 74 degrees.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Spareribs I am guessing you have tried the NIH web page and looked to see if you can find a Cochrane review on the topic.  But, if not, you might try both to see if you can get any answers.

coastwalker you are 100% right.  I should have added to what I said about playing offers against each other that it never pays to negotiate against an offer unless you are perfectly happy to turn it down (or see it withdrawn) and then take the other offer.

I managed to get in my long run for the week, 16 miles this morning.  Plan A was to run 5 at MP.  Plan actually executed was 4.  The last mile would have been uphill and I was already drained.  The good news is I started early and managed to finish in time to avoid being late for my morning meeting!

Live like you are dying not like you are afraid to die.

                    Hello everybody!

It's good to hear you're going to get to the bottom of what is going on Ribs.  I hope you figure it out quickly.

I did speed work at the track, last night.  The humidity had me psyched out before I even got there.  I was supposed to do 4x1200 @ 4:20.  After a 3200 meter warm up I did 4x1200's in 4:19.06 -- 4:20.63 -- 4:27.34 -- 4:32.55.  I did 400's between each to recover and another 3200 for a cool down.  Total was 7.7 miles.  Yeah...it kicked my butt.

So...when my daughter, Lori (before she was known as Larva) was in Kindergarten and 1st grade, she had to be physically restrained by her teachers because she wanted to go home so badly.  She cried every day and it was a pretty tough time.  Luckily, her 1st grade teacher really took a liking to her and, before the end of that year, Lori loved that teacher like she was her mother.  She was always pretty shy as a kid, didn't have very many friends....and then she found soccer, where she excelled.

Last night they were conducting tryouts for next year's summer soccer teams and, of course, Larva was there with her daughter.  Like I've mentioned before, the track is right next to the soccer fields and as I ran around that track, I watched as she spoke to a group of other parents who had all gathered around her to hear what she had to say.  She is an amazing young woman and it is so cool to have been able to watch her transformation.  I sometimes wonder how things would have turned out if she hadn't been so good at soccer.

Okay..sorry...I better get back to work.  See ya!

I think we all had a good time.

Nice long runs for Mike, Aamos, Holly, Wild, and Twocat. Good job on the speedwork for Mike.

This morning, it was in the high 60s, calm, and humid.  I did 5 miles at an 11:28 pace.

A good day and good runs for all.

Spareribs, Posie hugs, just because. . Sorry to hear how you feel every day during your run. That is not fun at all.

                            Coastwalker, interesting meeting indeed.

Leslie, Posie hugs and prayers for you, too.

Aamos, I like the lyrics  of that song so much, that I had it playing over and over again today.

Today was Tuesday Tempo for the Easy Pacer and I. 3 miles easy, 3 at tempo (the EP was way ahead of me during our tempo run ) and then 4 easy miles with wonderful sounds on my bluetooh. 10 total and I am feeling it right now.

                            Back to reading contracts.

Amy, I've seen family members putting up rain damage pictures. Scary.

                              Oh My Gosh...those scallops!!!!

I've been wondering what you've done for fatigue, Ribs. I've got a gastrocamerasshovedeverywhere appointment in September to attempt to nail down the low Fe.

A fella stopped me at work. He's the top of the food chain at one of our suppliers. Their company has a contract to supply a minimum of X% to our company. All his company gets is the minimum. They are struggling with that. He asked my why and what can they do differently. Seriously. I'm a newer hire, I dress like batman and play trucks. I told him that, if his company can start handling the smaller orders well, maybe they'll start being trusted with the larger orders. I also told him that the way his products are shipped reflects an attitude of complacency or that his company is doing us a favor by doing business with ours. He went of to explain why it's easier for his team to fill large orders. I'd love it if every one of our trucks were full and had only one stop with only full units of one item. That's not the way most industries work. We gets lots of different big packages(units of various lumber, windows, siding, cabinets.....etc). Tear those apart. Put together a package our customer wants. They tear that apart and put together a package that their customer wants. Like a house.

When the guy left, it dawned on me that he had tried to explain why it's had to do a good job. the same good job that several other companies do on a daily bases. Then I went back to dressing like batman and playing trucks.
