When I was there some people were wearing swimming suits in the triathlons and other running events. Are you wearing one this time or not? . .

In the meantime, my friend’s son thought he might want to try a citizen’s triathlon that’s been offered for the last ten years in a neigboring suburb. I did the first one but, since it’s so late in the season, to say nothing of me being such a minimalist I won’t wear a wet suit, the water temperature is usually well below my minimum of 64-degrees.

However, this year’s first ten days of September in the upper 80's have maintained a comfortable 70 degree water temperature for the swim. . . Unfortunately, it’s a half-mile instead of the annual quarter-mile one I’ve been doing every August since 1997. Missed it this year by being up on the top of Mt. Fuji in Japan, I mean working for the people who sent me over there. .

Because I’ve only swum a quarter of a mile for each of the last six years, I was having some doubts about this one’s half mile distance. However, my friend’s son hasn’t swum since he was inn boy scouts so I can’t complain. Besides, they have kayakers, boats, surfers and wet-suit swimmers accompanying all the 13 waves. .

.

I usually don’t like all the increasingly restrictive rules on bike standards, requiring shirts and shoes, etc. in some of the Ironman distance triathlons but I might have to be grateful another new provision in this one allowing grabbing the gunnel of one of the kayaks or skiffs and resting a little, unfogging goggles, etc. .

I didn't either, same as usual, for the Kirkland Tri.

Mari's son wore his chako sandals ever in the swim.

I finally found someone as nu.. , craz...., creatively innovative as I am.

ps - change biketm to the 25K as he's already too blown up for 50K

I bet Holly passes him by mile 5, though I've known guys

who've been dropped by the goddesses even in the first mile.
