Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Thanks Holly.

This week's a little weird because of me having today off and doing a longish run. It's also the first week of 16 that I'm doing under a new coach. His name is Conor Holt and he became well-known around here for winning the Memorial Marathon. Now he's the coach of a revitalized cross country program at the university where I went to law school, Okla. City University. To raise money for the program, he put an announcement out to the running club that he's offering coaching for $100 for the next 4 months. Since I have paid that much per month, I took the deal and have already spoken with him a couple of times. Here's a little background on him if you're interested. I only knew a little of it when I took the deal and now I'm even more impressed. I also learned from another article that he lost 4 years to a serious ankle injury that kept recurring but he persisted in chasing his dreams.

Oh well, if at first you don't succeed . . .
Once a runner . . .
Like Jdmom3, I'm going to go for another 50+ mile week. Then next week will be a short 1-week taper, followed by (hopefully) a Strong HM in Naples.

With days off for travel and a sore achilles, I ended up with 34.4 miles for my marathon week. Thanks once again, Holly, for all you do to maintain this thread. I think I'll take some time off from regimented running now... be back when the miles add up on their own!
