Happy Winds-day, as Winnie the Pooh would say. Just got done with breakfast... one of my favorite 7 meals of the day. (another Pooh-ism) from yesterday... evanflein- I laughed when you said you have the stuff at home but go to the gym anyway. I'm the same way. It's like if you pay for it you use it more to get your money's worth. Sorry about the sinus infection, I'll second the neti pot suggestion that Amy suggested. It's kinda nasty, but it does clean you out. Careful out there on the ice, you don't need another gimp in the family right now. Good job getting your late run in. I'll bet you slept well last night! Mariposai- Smile thank you for your kind words! How's that cold of yours doing? vista- Good to hear you had a good run yesterday. I hope your brother continues to improve. Amy- are you sure you're in SD? Those are Arizona temps. Good news about your ankle behaving! And thanks for your take on how we are all human. nonoruns- that snooze you took sounds heavenly, and muchly needed. The two miles you got in with the baby jogger should count as 4 miles to account for the extra load you were pushing. wildchild- did you get your run in in shorts yesterday? Great story about building your own house. Something to be very proud of! It sounds beautiful too. Twocat- sorry to hear that your calf is still bothering you, but I admire your restraint. Sounds like it's only gonna be a short setback. Keep icing stretching and massaging it. Sorry about your loss of wings. When you come to Long Island next year to run the King's Park race, I'll treat you to Spicy's. Deal? Tallrunner- keep us posted with those test results. enke- your sore quads are a sign that you gave it your all on Sunday! Don't rush back too quickly, I would suggest taking the rest of the week easy. Those short recovery runs are perfect for right now. charleygross- hope your cold doesn't get any worse. runningindc- good deal with the foot! Hopefully those new shoes will do the trick! JJJ- you give new definition to what a running camp is. evryday- nice temps! No wonder people came out of hybernation. PJH- Nice pace on the tempo run. How cold was it today? deez4boyz- welcome back from zombieland! That's a tough stretch you put in. I'm glad you find my posts useful, just trying to do my part. And speaking of doing your part, I want to join the others in thanking you for what you do! from today... Roy- It's always a pleasure to have you starting us off. Thanks. How's that marathon program you are on working out? What modifications, if any, did you do to it? PDR- Good morning back! Thank you for your very nice reply to my race report! Smile Good job with the Boston visualization this morning. Wasn't there a song "Boston on my mind"? Maybe it was Carolina... and maybe it was "in my mind." I forget. Anyway, nice run today. WRFB- No wonder you are such a good runner, 14 years of indoor soccer will do that to you. biketm- good deal getting that footpod calibrated. Have fun running up the miles on it! Keep us posted as to how it works. hopeful4ever- wow, you really were in the zone on your run! Awesome! Good thing you woke up when you did, instead of 5 miles past your house. Holly- you sure have paid your dues with the moving you've done. Let this next house be it for a while! Nice recovery run today. Jeanne- I always thought there was more going on on that island than meets the eye... it's always the quiet ones too. Hey, maybe those jeans were miscut and from a bad batch. Just trying to help. Tall- I'll bet your blood pressure goes way down this weekend. Have fun at the race. PeterNC- tick tock tick tock. The countdown continues. Things are sounding good for you. Dave- glad you seem to be feeling better. SueT- congrats to Jesse! Have fun tonight. On graduation day for my Jake, the instructor called him out to use him as an example of what an improvement is possible with hard work. Jake goes running over to the instructor, the instructor tells him to "sit" and with that Jake leaps into the air to lick the guys face and almost knocks him over. Good times. CNY- I was thinking of you this AM when I hear that UCONN won! Congrats! Awesome, awesome workout today! Good luck with the field trip and don't get too close to that incredible Van Der Graff generator. Rochrunner- a good PT will figure out what's going on. I'm glad you are getting fixed! Keep us posted! Ribs- How do you know the ferry ride was scenic if you couldn't see much? Mary Ann or Mary Jane... ha! Twocat- can never have enough ice and advil on hand thats for sure. Good to hear the calf is on the mend anyway, that was some test you put it through today! I think you need to add chicken wings to your regimine. Dragged myself through 10+ miles this morning in balmy, soggy weather. I was dragging my butt around all day yesterday and it carried through to this morning. A lot of people at work are pretty sick, I'm just hoping they haven't infected me. It was still nice to be out there though, I don't mind being back in the dark with the DST change. A few miles of the run were along the water, and the smell of the salty sea air, the sound of the waves lapping on the beach, the mourning doves cooing along with all the other birds, made me want to lay down right there and go to sleep. 296 more miles to survive to get to the finish line in Boston. I hope everyone out there has a great day, running or otherwise. Smile
Carp, posting too late to be in the BTB wrapup... Anyhoo,I ran 9 miles including our new hilly route,8:27 pace with my running partner T... Looks like I will be on my same team for the Ragnar Northwest Passage Relay and I got the same leg as last year...I hope to really hammer it this time...
Looking for a place to Happen, making stops along the way - The Hip
From today continued: Lynden - nice pace for a hilly route! Now, about that Ragnar relay.... (does that make you feel better missing out? Smile) CNY -- great workout, girl! That field trip sounds like fun. Did you and your DS ever see Night at the Museum? Hopeful -- yes, I'd say you were in the "zone." Cool Home this a.m. DS still not up to going back to school. He's missed a lot the last couple of weeks but he's such a great kid, he's still doing his homework. Of course, these days teachers just e-mail the assignments, so there's not a good excuse to fall too far behind anymore. Will head into the office a bit later. Though, like school, no excuse here to fall behind work with remote network connections. Looking forward to another run in late daylight.

Ribs! divechief is an engineer on that ferry! That Museum of Science trip cny runner is about to embark upon sounds like fun. I think it'd be neat to spent overnight in a museum! I did the Northwest Passage Ragnar Relay last year. Is the course the same, then? What was your team name, l? One of yesterday’s showings on our house is coming back tomorrow for a second showing.....I better get serious about shopping for a house..... Shocked CNYrunner - that sounds like SO much fun. Here in Ohio we have the Columbus Museum of Science and Industry - a very cool place. We need to go again this spring, now that DD is getting old enough to enjoy it.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Big grin lyndenrunner- cool! More relay escapades to look forward to! Keep doing what you're doing, and you'll no doubt be hammering it. perchcreek- sounds like you need to get out and run another 23 miler! Pretty impressive workout, especially after not sleeping well and being under the weather.

Today I ran 10 miles. Today I felt tall, beautiful and strong while I was running. This was by far the best 10 miler ever...I want to keep it in my memory bank to remember it again past mile 20 on marathon day. Tongue. Wow...everything was in sync, body, mind, spirit. Listened to AAMix!, great for tempo run.

As we're getting closer to putting Mom's house on the market, I'm liking Holly and her family more. If you move to Northern Michigan, I can hook you up with black, ribbed Batman tank tops. Like BTB, I was dragging yesterday. I'm looking forward to Gordon's RR already. Remind me to talk smack about him some time. Today, I set out for a run. The dog was left behind. And she cried. and cried. then howeled. So I came back and got her. With the signs of spring in the air, the dog was more sproinky. As was I, however, I don't pull on the leash when rodents chase each other, a flock of turleys cross the road or deer go bounding by. Another prelude to spring is when we run on the side of the road and break through the top crust of snow and sink to your knee. On the way back, we stopped at the bank DD#3 works at and got a dog treat. The dog won't eat it till we get home. I've learned to wear gear with at least one pocket. Running down the road with a dog biscuit clenched in your teeth sort of screws up my credibility in this town. 9 miles.

Oops, forgot to post today's run...almost identical to yesterday's: 7.6 miles @ 8:37. There was a funny little item in today's paper describing "Mary Ann's" bust for DUI and marijuana that ended with something like, "Isn't that what we'd expect from Ginger?" Tongue

A beautiful day for 4.12 miles that I did in good time. I wish I had more time to run. However, I am getting ready for a trip so needed to limit my running time. Update on my brother ........His kidneys are not in good enough condition to do the catheterization that they want because the dye that is used is hard on the kidneys. So they are "tweeking" his medications over the next 3-4 days to allow for the procedure to be done the first of next week. He had a slight spell last night when he went to say good bye to a couple of his sons who had flown in for two days. The trauma of saying good bye spiked his heart and put him back briefly on oxygen. So, while improved, he still has a ways to go for recovery. Have a great day folks.

Headed out for a nice run this afternoon. Planned to meet a running buddy from the running group. She works near where I live so it really works out nice. She is a walker, and wants to start running, and I offered to help get her started. So, we meet, do one mile walk, one mile run. Oh yea, she is young and long legged, I am old and short legged, so I know it won’t be too long before she is flying past me Big grin…but that is ok. She wants to start slow, and I will sure keep her to that with no problems. So, I am running to meet her (it is just under a mile from my house to our meeting location) and all of a sudden there are lights and sirens everywhere. Secret service, capitol police, fire trucks, ambulance, motorcycle cops…if it was in uniform and was in DC, it was converging on the capitol. Shocked I look around and see that there are no barricades or cops shouting instructions so I keep on going. I have become accustomed to motorcades, street closures, and the like on a moments notice. While this seemed a bit over the top, I figured if it was major, there would be hoards of folks in evacuation mode. So, I kept on going to the meeting location. My running peep noticed all the activity and wondered what the heck was going on. We chatted briefly that it could be the prez on the move, or some other high level thing, or maybe just one of the capitol crackpots acting out. We are calm, and nonchalantly chatting about this activity and joking that this should clear the mall of all the tourists as they rush to look and figure out why all the cops/vehicles were gathering on the street corner. And off we go. Our 2 mile jaunt around the mall was incident free and when we returned to our meeting location all activity was gone. When I got back home I discovered that the hoopla was because of a plane that had entered the restricted airspace and considered a threat. Now, these little planes are always missing the signs that they have entered restricted airspace and are being escorted to a landing field off in nowhere land never to be heard of again. Tight lipped This activity on the ground was a sign that this plane 1) may not have been so little, and/or 2) was not immediately following the suggestion of the F-16 escort to land. I am sure more will be revealed as the day goes on. What surprised me was the calm and nonchalant way in which the public, myself included, reacted to this activity on the ground. We have become desensitized to lights, sirens and security threats. That frightens and saddens me. Sad But it was a wonderful day for a run. CoolSunny, 54F (wind around 20 mph) I have noticed that I am running faster with a lower heart rate. The only explanation I have for this is my swimming. I am pleased. Overall I did 3.95 miles avg.12:17 m/m Run 1: from home to meet my running peep: .89 mile avg. 11:23 m/m Run 2: 2 miles with running peep: 1 mile walk, 1 mile run-2.04 miles avg 12:47 m/m-Splits: 14:18, 11:19 Run 3: back home: 1.02 miles avg 12:05 m/m My foot seems to be ok with this. Mariposi: You are always strong, tall and beautiful. Good runs and good afternoon
