I was planning on running the VA wine country 1/2 marathon (saturday, june 2), but due to illness, will not be able to participate. 

I can transfer my bib to another runner ($20 fee).  i paid $128 entry fee and would be so HAPPY if someone would be willing to run the race for just the cost of the $20 transfer fee (the transfer must be done at the expo).  YES, you read that right-- if you are willing to pay the $20 transfer fee, you can run this beautiful race for the cost of the transfer!

here are the details regarding the transfer:

Race transfers can no longer be accepted online. You must come to the expo at Lansdowne on Friday and fill out a transfer form. You'll need the previous bib owners registration confirmation email or copy of their ID and your ID.  Transfer fee is $20 and can be paid on-site with cash or credit card.  You will receive a new race bib and timing chip and the new information will be entered into the timing database.  Any paid extras will be transferable so be sure to ask for them when making your transfer.

i can provide the registration confirmation via email-- no problem there!

Lynne, I'd love to take you up on this, but can't exactly get to VA in a couple weeks! I hope someone takes you up on this; it's an excellent offer!
