under a rock
Welcome RWOL refugee trail runners to RA!
Just wanted to let you know that most of our subforums aren't like the GSP*. We've got a trail group already and would love for you guys to join in our quiet group and make it more active. We don't historically do dailies but we have usually had a monthly thread. Please don't feel afraid to join us. I personally rarely head into the GSP and stick to the subforums, they're the real heart of RA. Been on RA since 2009 and maybe have posted in the GSP less than 10 times.
*Great Scary Place = the main forums.

Hello fraggle! Thanks for the welcome! I worry about us taking over your forum, however. We do dailies every day, post nonsense chat stuff sometimes, and have a few threads that we will want to re-create. (Trail porn has already been started, I see.) How would your group feel about that? We don't want to barge in with our muddy shoes and settle in without asking first. But we will bring beer!
We're also a little ultra oriented, but not totally. But those things just kind of tend to go hand in hand.
Running is dumb.
Thank you for the welcome Fraggle! As Mandy states, we didn't want to barge in and start taking over the place (at least without shouting out, "On your left!")
I've sent a message to the group admin to find out her thoughts on the dailies. I'm fine with them in a subforum but since I don't "own" the group I don't want to give it the go ahead on my own.
If your group is more active the original will probably just die out and then you'll have to change the name since eventually you'll have non RWOL peeps in here. If you don't mind I'll stick around and check out the chatter. The ultra group here is more active but since I don't run ultras I tend to not enjoy the forum that much so I stick to our quieter trail runners group.
We're not super active like some of the other groups from RWOL who have migrated over here, but we do post every day. We're pretty laid back, and forgive me for speaking for the majority, but I don't think we would mind integrating with the locals. We lost about half of our original group to Facebook the first time we dealt with spam over at RWOL.
Mandy, if you haven't checked it out yet, the trail forum here has some wonderful porn!
Uh oh... now what?
The loss of history, both written and pictorial, is very sad for me.

And thanks for the welcome, Fraggle!
Me too, John, but I'd rather us create new history in a place that wants us here. The owner of the site has been very welcoming and has worked to accommodate us. RWOL has made it very clear that they don't care about the forums or the users experience.
Thank you Mandy. I understand the transition stuff... just bothered enough to say something. Probably a self-pity sort of thing. I was one of the originators of the trail/ultra group in, uh, 2002? They destroyed the early years in the first upgrade. Okay, just me poor-mouthing.
I appreciate all the work the new owner/moderator person is doing.
John M.
I will go wherever John M goes. I'm sort of a fan, after all.
I understand. I've been at Runner's World for about 5 years now. It was home. I don't like leaving home, but...I don't know what else to do...
I plan to juggle both sites for a short while. This should not be difficult, as I've only posted in RWOL a handful of times since the upgrade. Like Mandy, I'll likely end up where John M. ends up.
Thanks for the welcome, fraggle!
You got 'em. Let the anticipation begin.
Endless trails
Thanks for the welcome, Fraggle. Looks like Mandy and EDRW summed it up well.
Hey John, good to see you here. “Never too old, never too bad, never too late, never too sick to start from scratch once again.”
Thank you, Fraggle and hello, fellow traily peeps!
I got a positive response from the admin Fatozzig. Her response to my inquiry was: "The more the merrier! This forum needs some new blood. Mostly definitely anybody and everybody is welcome!!"
She has started up a thread in the trail forum welcoming everyone to join in.
We'll understand if yo guys want to stay here for a bit where you feel safe but we'd love to have you over there. Just a suggestion to help us out is when you start your first daily thread can you please explain your abbreviations, since they may be foreign, to us and what you usually include in the thread. Thanks and we hope to see you over there!
