Took a little jaunt from French Creek down to Hopewell Furnace and back from the trail head up on Shed Road yesterday. THis was after Saturday's snow and freezing rain event. The trees up on top of the hill (1000 ft.) were still shedding the frozen precipitation that had stuck to the branches. It was sort of dripping cold rain in the forest up there with the added sound effects of ice pellets hitting the frozen snow. Down at the bottom of the hill (500 ft?) the "rain storm" had already stopped. I guess that's the difference between a few degrees and a few hundred feet.  The trails were mostly unbroken until I hit them. A quarter inch of crunchy ice topping covering a few inches of wet snow and slush. Cold on the feet. Slow to run in for the most part, except downhill.

A good day for a short run though with some photo stops.

A few snow/dog photos from Green Lane reservoir trails this past weekend. 60 degree temps for our run in the snow. The german pointer sort of blends into the wintery woods scene like "where's Waldo?!".
