Where's Waldo Wednesday (Read 18 times)

I think Waldo is still out on the Moab 240 course (see below). Got out for 8 very slow miles this morning. I couldn't figure out why I was so slow. I felt ok. But it is what it is.

I was following the Moab 240 mile event that took place over the weekend. The winner finished in 61 hours I think. But many took 100+ hours. It's such a crazy event among the other 200 milers. David Goggins finished 2nd. He's not my fav due to his cocky attitude or whatever it is. But third for the men's was an unknown who nonchalantly went in and killed it.  On the women's side, the second place finisher stood out to me because she is from the flat state of Nebraska. How did she do the elevation change??? Anyways, it was fun to follow. Maybe one day...

QOTD: Have any projects at home that you have been procrastinating on? Or are the type to just get it done?

I have too many. I have a basement that is 95% done but needs a little work. I need to just do it. I procrastinate by starting other projects.

    Have a great day!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

Waldo would be done with that race days ago if he used lace-up's strategy and hopped in the boob mobile!

Last night, 6 miles with Baker at Coventry Woods. Good run, the creakiness abated in my knees and I did what I would consider actual running with some effort and pace at times. I have been chipping away at my time on the out/back hilly route I ran last night at CW. It's about 6 miles, 600+ feet of hills, and a few months ago I was happy just to break 70 minutes. 2 weeks ago I broke 66 minutes by a few seconds, and last night it was 64:30. Not sure how much I can chip off from there. Little goals you know. A few years ago I ran a more difficult but similar route, but a mile longer, in a similar time. Such is life, but I will take a good run when I can get one. Exhilarating still even if slower.

Today, dog wog so far. Will do some weights, stretching, and get Baker out to the lake trails tonight.

QOTD: Well, I farm out some of the big projects since I am not too handy. We recently had the tile on the pool replaced and it looks great. Still need to replace the basement sliding door. It's ancient and does not open easily. In fact, you have to be inside to open it. At least I did fix the toilet fill valve that was acting up in the downstairs bathroom this past weekend. Of course the 5-10 minute project took an hour as the shut off valve did not completely shut off so I ended up with water leaking and had to resort to full shut off of water to the house. So now I have shut off valve I need to replace at some point.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

Xtreme: That is funny about "lace-up's strategy". From time to time, I wonder what he is doing now for work.

I ran a 5 mile run this morning, and then I rushed to town to pick up some nails and drop off the mortgage payment at the bank. I also mailed some bills that I had subtracted but forgot to write the checks for because of the hurricane. I was in a rush because I had a 10AM zoom meeting. The cool temperatures came back this morning, but I think it is still warm enough for me to jump in the pool. I have this pool boy duty down pretty good now, vacuuming, chemicals, swimming, etc. I do it all.

QOTD: I actually just got off the roof. The storm blew about 8 to 10 shingles off the ridge cap. My roof is steep, and I am prone to falling. Those shingles flew off on Friday night, and I guess I have procrastinated in a sense. I should have done that Sunday, but my wife couldn't see it... By the time they blew off, the rain was gone, and we don't expect rain anytime soon.

I was going to post but decided to do it later

          Sandy-2

Got up and did 12 this morning.  It was pretty cool out with a nice north wind, plus it was a desert-like 85% humidity.

qotd: We have to get a huge tree removed from our back yard, since it shades the house I've been pushing for keeping it.  But due to the roots messing up things I need to get it done.  Maybe soon...

Oh, it's been a lazy week. Chowder and I just wogged 3 miles on an errand. But I did get new lights for my run tomorrow morning so I'm planning ahead.

Sandy-- that's a tough call on the tree. We had to remove a shade tree and our AC bill jumped noticeably.

Maybe he's doing laundry. At the prison. I still think about that Sports Illustrated article from time to time and all it 'exposed'. .  In all seriousness, I hope his wife is ok. Not sure if she was cut from the same cloth, or strong armed into being a co-conspirator.

qotd: Lots, which has affected my athletic pursuits. The garden and closing out for the year. Canned a lot of tomatoes, applesauce and pickles (my MN heritage influenciing here). I need to finish the fireplace refinishing job I started in Feb, pre-pandemic and everyone work/learn from home. That'll get done soon. Got a new sander on Prime day.

We had a large tree in our backyard taken out in June. Good shade but the tree was rotting from the inside so would have come down in pieces on its own. Cost a good bit to get it taken down though.

Easy 3 and a leg workout.

Two running club friends completed Moab 240, one in around 89 hours and one in around 93 hours (7th place female).  Although I never say never, I’ll make an exception for races over 200 miles.  Especially in the heat that they experienced.  Does not appeal to me.

QOTD: I know we have a bunch of stuff in our closets that should be purged, but it’s much easier just to ignore it.
