My ex-niece is also bipolar, diagnosed as a teen.  She is now a certified recovery specialist and will hopefully be helping others.  One of the things she struggled with was the medication she was prescribed often adversely affected her creativity, and she's very talented in art and music.

Yes, it's very difficult to reconcile the creativity that can go with it and the medications that will stifle that.  I hope the best for her and it's also therapeutic to help others.  Glad to hear she's doing that.

One of the reasons why I got off medication years ago was because it basically made me a zombie.  I'd get up, go to work, go home, sit on the couch and watch TV and eat junk until bedtime.  I didn't want to be that person anymore.  Yet being off medication is also playing with fire.  Eventually, you'll get burned.

And thank you everyone for your kind words and support (again).  It's not easy for me to say these things about myself.  I'm definitely stubborn enough to think I can do it all on my own.  But we're all human in the end.

Sue - Sorry to hear about your niece and her daughter.  I'm in several online bipolar groups and it's a terrible struggle to get and keep a job for so many.  And thank you.

Bert I've dealt with depression and quit the meds for the same reason you quit yours. And my dad is an alcoholic and I can real close to turning out that way but thankfully I seem to have missed that gene.  If you ever just want some one to talk to I'd be happy to.

qotd: Yes. As far as I'm concerned it's no worse than alcohol or cigarettes both of which are awful for you and easily addicted to.  I smoke when I was in HS and just after graduating, quit when I got pregnant.  I never desired it afterwards even though hash was easy to get in Germany.  Most of the people I knew who smoked pot back then were beach bums.  Although one of the guys on the track team would smoke a joint before his event and then just kill it.

7.4 miles of run/walk with DW this afternoon.  Glad she's running more, it gets boring walking that far with no running mixed in.

QOTD: Today an acquaintance  is taking their son to rehab. It will be his umpteenth  time trying to get back on a path to sobriety. When he gets out or quits he'll start with alcohol then graduate to weed and when that allure fades it will be the harder stuff. The family is slowly coming to grips with the alcohol-weed-hard shit pathway.

A couple of weeks ago we finally got Ketamine on the trucks. Using it for sedation of violent drug overdoses.  Yea I know some people will argue that weed doesn't cause problems like that.  Some of us can see the truth.  I'd share some experiences but number one, it would be a waste of time and number 2 I kind of gotta watch out for HIPPA since this is not a closed forum.
